Ticketmaster sucks.

Btw, I saw Little Mermaid on Broadway and it was pretty cool.

I think Ticketmaster is the only company that people hate where not one person comes to back them up.

That's because everyone has probably been bent over and fucked in the ass by them at some point. Even if they haven't... there are no redeeming qualities or practices from that company that anyone could support anyhow.

Mr. Burns: And to think, Smithers, you laughed when I bought Ticketmaster. [imitating Smithers] Nobody's going to pay a hundred-percent "service charge."
Smithers: It's a policy that ensures a healthy mix of the rich and the ignorant, sir.

And what is worse, there are no real alternatives and some venues you can only buy your tickets from them.

Did you buy with a credit card? Try doing a charge back.

And yeah, lodge a complaint with the BBB.

I think this is the most aggravating part of the whole thing. For any big event, it's either Ticketmaster or nothing.

I simply don't go to those venues anymore. I've been fucked by TM enough that I'll only go places where I can purchase tickets directly from them. God himself could descend from heaven and put on the most awesome show in history...I won't go if it's a TM-only venue.

Some of the best shows I've ever been to have been at non-TM venues. There is another website that sells event tickets, TicketWeb. If you get it mailed to your house, there's no delivery fee, and the standard "convience" fee is only about $3-5. Unfortunately, they only sell tickets to smaller and lesser-known events.

That's why monopoly's are bad. You'd have a whole different experience if there were a few other ticket sellers that were easy to use. TicketMaster would be playing a different tune.

when you buy from TM, you agree to their terms and conditions... maybe you should read them prior.

Occasionally, events are canceled or postponed by the promoter, team, band or venue. Should this occur, we will attempt to contact you to inform you of refund or exchange procedures for that event. For exact instructions on any canceled or postponed event, please check the event information online or contact us. If you purchase a ticket through Ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster.ca, Ticketmaster's Phone Centers or TicketExchange, and a refund is issued, then Ticketmaster will most likely give you a refund by issuing a credit to the credit card that you used to purchase that ticket unless that ticket was subsequently sold using TicketExchange, and the holder of the ticket will not be able to physically present it for a refund. If a ticket is purchased through a Ticketmaster Retail Location and a refund is to be issued for it, then you may only be able to receive the refund by presenting the ticket yourself to the Retail Location where it was purchased.

Ticketmaster typically only offers refunds and/or exchanges based on the promoter's, team's or venue's instructions. Ticketmaster is not obligated to issue a refund except to the extent that the promoter, team or venue responsible for bringing you the event (1) instructs us to issue a refund, and (2) provides us with the ticket funds necessary to issue refunds. In order to receive a refund or an exchange that may be offered, you will have to comply with the promoter's, team's or venue's instructions or deadlines, which, along with the decision about whether or not to issue a refund or an exchange, may be at the promoter's, team's or venue's discretion.

If Ticketmaster issues you a refund for a ticket, it will issue a refund of the ticket's face value paid (or, if a discounted ticket, then instead the discounted ticket price paid), the facility fee and the convenience charge, unless the ticket was sold through TicketExchange in which case Ticketmaster will issue a refund of the ticket price you paid on TicketExchange and the convenience charge (if any) you paid on TicketExchange. If the event was scheduled to occur in Canada, then the order processing fee will also be refunded (but not for events that were scheduled to occur in the United States). In no event will delivery prices or any other fees or amounts be refunded. If a refund is issued, it will be issued using the same method of payment that was used to purchase the tickets. If a credit card was used to make the refunded purchase, then only that actual credit card will receive the credit for the refund. Ticketmaster will not be liable for travel or any other expenses that you or anyone else incurs in connection with a cancelled or postponed event.

If an event is canceled, please Contact us for information on receiving a refund. If the event was moved or rescheduled, the venue or promoter may set refund limitations. Contact us for exact instructions.

Please make sure to include/provide your account number so we can expedite your refund if applicable.

Refunds and Exchanges
Before purchasing tickets, carefully review your event and seat selection. Policies set forth by our clients, including venues, teams and theaters, generally prohibit Ticketmaster from issuing exchanges or refunds after a ticket has been purchased or for lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed tickets. You agree that you will not attempt to evade, avoid, or circumvent those prohibitions in any manner with regard to tickets you purchased. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, you will not contact Ticketmaster to seek a refund or exchange from Ticketmaster when Ticketmaster is prohibited from providing one by its clients, and you will not dispute or otherwise seek a ?chargeback? from the company whose credit card you used to purchase tickets from the Site. Should you do so, your tickets may be cancelled, and Ticketmaster may, in its sole discretion, refuse to honor pending and future ticket purchases made from all credit card accounts or online accounts on which such chargebacks have been made, and may prohibit all persons in whose name the credit card accounts exist and any person who accesses any associated online account or credit card or who otherwise breaches this provision from using the Site.

i didn't care to read the fine print, nor was i planning to do a chargeback. the amount is something like $10-20 which isn't going to break me. just venting here.

it's more a matter of principal, and TM is scum that has no understand of the the term "customer service".

Even knowing the fine print, they still suck the life out of everything and I really wish there was a way to get rid of them. The only other ticketing company I can think of is ticketweb and they don't get many of the good shows. It's damn near a monopoly and they're railing us for being the only big on in the business... wasn't there laws against this sort of thing?
