They have another jingle that gets stuck in my head too. Every damn time the commercial comes on I find myself singing it for the next day.

"They say a man should always dress for the job he wants, so why am I dressed up like a pirate in this restaurant?"

That stuff is a freakin scam. If you don't cancel your 'free' account after a month they start charging you. And to cancel you have to jump through hoops. There is no "cancel my account" button. You have to call them, wait on hold for 25 minutes, then when you tell them you want to cancel they tell you all of their special offers before they allow it.. and THEN!.... They will send you a confirmation email that you HAVE to reply to in order to cancel.. The confirmation Email comes 3 weeks later! I guess they are hoping that you will forget about it by then.

It may sound like I'm over-reacting to it.. Just go ahead and sign up. You'll notice how they strategically design the site to make it as difficult as possible to cancel your account.

I hate that commercial. The audio isn't even synced correctly and the curly haired freak singing makes me want to vomit.

Yep, and I fell for it too. It's my own fault, but I didn't read ALL of the small print. About a month after getting my free report, a $14.95 bill showed up on my CC for "credit monitoring."

I fell for it also. Hell, this thing is such a scam that I would prefer the OP to mention it in his post just so people who are too lazy to read threads don't fall for it. Seriously, why such deceiving business practices are acceptable via the web is beyond me.

Although, I will say that canceling the service was fairly easy but YMMV. It only took 5-10 minutes and I just had to answer no to numerous other offers. I got an email confirming the cancellation, and didn't have to respond to it as previously mentioned.

I didn't attempt to get my money back, as that was my punishment for being a dumbass.

I HATE THAT COMMECIAL SO MUCH

Maybe I'm an anomaly, but very rarely does a commercial have a positive effect on me. I mean, yes, the goal is to get you to recognize the product, and that commercial does make me think of freecreditreport.com....but when I do, I fill with a venemous rage. An annoying commercial will make me remember to never buy the product out of spite. A good commercial makes me indifferent.

I HATE this commercial. I don't know why I find it so irritating.

I do find myself singing the F-R-E-E that spells free, though. Then depending who I'm with, they will finish it with a free credit report.com baby.

I know the snickers commercials don't have jingles, but the "Sound the feasting horn!" *horn blast, then knocks the snickers to the ground*- "The feast...it's ruined" *barely audible squeaks from the same horn*

I'm exactly the same way. The fratalian commercials from Dunkin' Donuts made me not want to go there ever again.

man thanks so much for this thread OP! I actually signed up with freecreditreport.com by mistake when I was trying to get my FICO score from Experian. Today's the last day in the 7 day grace period to cancel. Just called them up and cancellation process went pretty smoothly, but I'll reserve judgment until I get the final cancellation confirmation email and dont see a charge from them on my CC bill

make sure it's a FICO score. each credit monitoring agency has their own score which differs from FICO score.

Also FICO score might not be the same with all credit companies. When getting my free credit reports from annualcreditreport.com, i opted to get a FICO score from Experian by paying a $8 fee. They said my FICO is 800.

Couple weeks later, I went to get pre-approved from Bank of America for a mortgage. They pulled my credit report and mailed me a letter saying that they did so from Transunion and my FICO score is 781.
