You have to call them, wait on hold for 25 minutes, then when you tell them you want to cancel they tell you all of their special offers before they allow it.. and THEN!.... They will send you a confirmation email that you HAVE to reply to in order to cancel.. The confirmation Email comes 3 weeks later! I guess they are hoping that you will forget about it by then.

It may sound like I'm over-reacting to it.. Just go ahead and sign up. You'll notice how they strategically design the site to make it as difficult as possible to cancel your account.
Simple logic tells us that in order to pay for national TV advertising, someone is going to get charged. Thus the "FREE" in their advertising is a "Come On".

The *real* free credit report website

Thats not free either. The credit companies just charge you again to use their services.

Yes, it is free. FACTA entitles every American to one free credit report from each of the 3 bureaus every 12 months. You can either get all 3 at once, or pull one from each of the bureaus in turn every 4 months. Only the score is extra, but quite frankly IMO, you shouldn't need to know your FICO score in order to manage your credit.

I just got a report. My score is 828. Not bad for a 21y/o I guess.

make sure it's a FICO score. each credit monitoring agency has their own score which differs from FICO score.

Also FICO score might not be the same with all credit companies. When getting my free credit reports from annualcreditreport.com, i opted to get a FICO score from Experian by paying a $8 fee. They said my FICO is 800.

Couple weeks later, I went to get pre-approved from Bank of America for a mortgage. They pulled my credit report and mailed me a letter saying that they did so from Transunion and my FICO score is 781.

The 3 credit agencies Experian Transunion and whatever that last one with an E is calculate differently. They call it FICO score but the 3 of them all compute differently on a different scale, so It's exactly what you said. Experian says you're 800 but Transunion says you're a 781. Shrug. Why can't it be standardized! ><

I HATE commercials with catchy songs. Most of the time it's annoying as hell to have it stuck in your head. Makes me openly hostile to the company behind hit.

The only exception I have found is the Discovery Channel recently.
