I know. Being an ex-smoker I can see both sides. I was just making an observation...you usually can't reverse the two statements. IOW, how many nonsmokers think "Just leave if you don't like it"?Originally posted by: ffmcobalt

Nonsmokers think "Be considerate and don't light up near nonsmokers."
Most smokers don't light up near nonsmokers. If they do, most of them light up down-wind. That's just common courtesy that most of them respect and honor. The ones that light up around you and blow smoke in your direction are the dickheads in the minority of the habbit.

Really? Think about it Nik. Between those who smoke and those who don't, who's using common sense? 😉Originally posted by: ffmcobalt

It should be legal to kill smokers. They're killing themselves anyway, so at least we can have the pleasure of doing that.
Talking to me...I think so, but I'm not sure, I'm not liberal. Truth be told, the last time I was annoyed by a smoker was bout 4 or 5 months ago while standing in line to sell back books. To you, and Nik, I never said anything about rights so get off it. You have the right to be a moron, and I have the right not to like it.Originally posted by: Phil21
I never smoked in my life..
But I'm seriously considering taking up the habit just to annoy little liberal wastes of skin as yourself.
Should be fun to get in a few fistfights with little suburbanite kiddie who thinks he knows how the world should run.
Why can't we just go back to the wild west pioneering era? I doubt anyone whined about something so trivial as cigarrette smoke back then. Yes, your 2 second walk through a group of smokers is trivial.
Starting to hate this country for what it's becoming. Ugh.

Then it should be legal to castrate stupid people (like you). They're probably not ever in their lives have the chance to breed, so at least we can have the pleasure of making sure they don't.

I started smoking because I was in some really stressful situations for a while, and the nicotine helped keep me relaxed. I quit because I want to live past 40.

Rather than getting mad at the smokers, why don't you get mad at the people responsible for tobacco being a legal product? Your legislators are the ones who allow tobacco growers and manufacturers of tobacco products to be sold in the U.S. It is up to you and those of your ilk to stop the madness. You have to contribute money ($$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$) to the campaigns of people who are willing to ban the use of tobacco in the U.S. just as they made the growing, possession, distribution and use of marijuana illegal.
If you are truly as adamant as you claim then start a referendum to ban tobacco.
Otherwise, STFU!

Everywhere I see smokers huddled around the exit/entrance to a building smoking away and making everyone from the damn building walk through their puffs of smoke as they leave/enter. I walk outside and am surrounding by these damned people who could care less whom else they are making stink and breathe their nasty ass fumes.
Waa Waa Waa I wish you were here so I could blow smoke in your face!
Good post. Funny thing about this thread, all of these people probably consider themselves independent thinkers yet each one has been conditioned to reject smokers. Media brainwashing at its best (worst?).Originally posted by: Valinos
Wow, you people are really overreacting. Walking through a group of smokers outside is not going to harm you. You'll hurt yourself more by walking behind a running vehicle. Tobacco smoke does a lot less in terms of hurting the environment than cars, or even that nice little fire you light during winter. I've never smelled like smoke when I walk through a group of people smoking. There's simply not enough time for the smoke to get attached to your clothes.
The sheer stupidity of the these children that are bashing smokers it hilarious. We should kill them? We should ram cars into them because they flicked a butt out of their car? WTF is with you fascists? I actually got a laugh out of this thread...non-smokers assuming most people who smoke will develop cancer. Completly false. 8% of the U.S. white male (which is the largest cancer statistic) smokers actually die from lung cancer compared to 1% in non-smokers. While, there is a greater risk of developing cancer with smoking, the numbers given by the media and non-smoking organizations are skewed and exaggerated.
The fact is, most people who smoke will never develop cancer from smoking.
The risk for a non-smoker to get lung cancer from inhaling second hand smoke is so monumentally small it can't even be factored. Combined with all the other carcinogens in the air, there is no way to tell whether they developed lung cancer from second hand smoke or from a more dangerous form of pollution - or even the dust in their house.
Oh, and here's my proof. With references to back it up. Good game, but you lose 😀
By the way, who the hell pays $6 for a pack of cigs? When I'm not rolling my own cigarettes (about 200 for $10), I can go to the CONVENIENCE STORE and buy a pack of Camel Lights for $3.05 after tax. In Tennessee, which has one of the highest sales tax in the nation and a recent 10 cent hike on cig prices.
I won't presume to speak for all nonsmokers, however for me, the annoyance of having to walk thru a group of people smoking is enough to get my panties in a bunch. 😉 What you say may be true (the connection between cigarettes and lung cancer is undeniable, no matter what the figures are, by the way), but just because it won't harm me to walk thru a group of smokers doesn't mean that it it's a pleasant thing to have to do.Originally posted by: Valinos

Put all of your studies aside (nonsmokers will always say that it's bad for you and smokers will always say it isn't that bad for you) and address the initial reason for this thread. Cigarette smoke stinks and people shouldn't have to be subjected to it if they don't want to. Even if smoking caused zero health problems, it's still affects other people.
First, I wish you the best of luck breaking away from your addiction. I offer the following thoughts in the hope it will help you to succeed.Originally posted by: love1u0
Well, let me tell you that I hate it, and wish that I never started. Im so addicted to these things that its not even funny. When I do not get a cig for a while, I get physically ill.
