F$#@King smokers!

Everywhere I see smokers huddled around the exit/entrance to a building smoking away and making everyone from the damn building walk through their puffs of smoke as they leave/enter. I walk outside and am surrounding by these damned people who could care less whom else they are making stink and breathe their nasty ass fumes.

My girlfriend is a smoker and every time I see her I can smell the smoke on her clothes, in her truck.... I can't stand it. Who is their right mind would breathe a burnt material into their body on a daily (sometimes hourly) basis on purpose? Yes, I realize nicotine is a addictive drug, but WTF makes someone start smoking in the first place? Let's see:

Being cool? I don't think so; smoking is seen by many people as a nasty disgusting habit. Even kids know it's impacts, physical and social.

Staying thin? Maybe... but at what cost? I personally think this one is a crock. I think it's the smoke that kills your taste buds and you don't want to eat as much as you would normally.

Oral fixation? Maybe... but I can think of better things to stick in your mouth than mashed up burnt plant material and insect parts (btw, recent studies show that upto 22% of cigs are insects parts. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!).

Wanting to be a nasty ass that stinks and no one likes to talk to because of your yellow teeth? Yah I'd believe it.

Anyone else hate this?

at least Mayor Bloomberg in NYC is lobbying to ban smoking in restaurants and bars. I can't wait for that to happen.

Next up: ban on smoking outside

Non-smokers need to get a grip. You've already driven the smokers outside so that they don't pollute your immediate environment, what more do you want? A 10' x 10' fenced off area 500 feet from the door?

Puh-lease.

Uh, no. Fsck that. I have half of a cigar left sitting in my rig and I intend to smoke a pipe when I'm an old man.

It's dumb for them to smoke next to the door. Here at my work they're required to stand 50 feet away from the door.

heh..they make smokers smoke ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BUIDLING where I work...

Problem is that the otherside is next to a windy highway...lol😀

In my county they've banned smoking indoors, even in bars and nightclubs.

Now that everyones got used to the bylaw, it really is for the better.

Ontario, Canada.

And yes, I believe a similar law does exist in California.

Yes, it does. It makes going to a bar or club a much more enjoyable experience when you don't smell like the bottom of an ashtray when you leave.. (that smell makes me want to puke)

That sucks. Government needs to stop telling businesses whther or not they want to allow smoking in their establishments.

It's not always an addiction either. My coworker stopped cold-turkey and he admitted it was no large effort to stop. He's been smoking for more than 10 years (he's young enough). The birth of his kid gave him a good reason too. Other people just have no urge to stop... is that really a sign of indifference or ignorance? They choose to spend $6/pack, yet complain about the raise in price of other things like gas and taxes.

There are buildings around my office that have a little outhouse for smokers. Give each other lung cancer while standing together - fine with us, but crowd around doors with children walking in and out too... yeah, real considerate.

You've already driven the smokers outside so that they don't pollute your immediate environment, what more do you want?

1) Our environment? Smokers and non-smokers share the same environment. 2) You still want to smoke inside? Office buildings? In your cubicle? You make it sound like pushing "you guys" outside was punishment enough.

Smoke in your cars, smoke in your house, smoke in designated areas... you should know it's a bad habit in many ways so why are you even defending yourselves?

In Canada, smoking is illegal inside all workplaces now =) and essentially, everything is a workplace excluding your own home.

Well, My girlfriend had her tonsills out last year and the doc who did the work on her said she was having problems breathing... so he suctioned out her lungs and all he got was nasty yellow-brownish muck thought the suction tube. She has been smoking for 20 years (she only 33) and it's going to kill her. She knows it and doesn't care. 🙁

All she says is she hopes when she gets cancer, she goes quick like on all the smoking commercials.

Nice to see she really cares about how you feel eh? You need to get through to her.

Is this all of Canada, or just your province?
It's hard for me to see how everything outside ones home could be considered a "workplace".
