I've invented a new drink. And as it was, grasshopper is already taken--too bad, as it is rather fitting. Anyway, here are the ingredients. Just a thought while I go to sleep and my machine crunches on. Too bad I couldn't make it make up names for me. :D

splash of melon liquer
splash of triple sec
splash more of peach schnapps
2 oz limoncello
splash of green chartreuse

This temperature is killing my pc, i've droped back to stock and am running 1x GPU and 1x CLI as that makes my pc run about 4c cooler than the SMP with overlocking was.

Its nice down here, when its not so hot. haha
its 4:52pm and we have hit 41.6c again, it didn't make the 43c(109f) they expected

I'm off to my new years eve party. a BBQ and not to much booze, as I start work at 9am.

Everyone be safe and have a happy new year! May we all fold into the future for the TeAm and for science!

Ugh... That sucks. I think the extra PC cooling would be the one benefit to me moving up north. :) Sorry to hear it though. Texas has been strangely cool lately.

Happy New Year, Slider76!

Last year at this time I and my kids was in Broken Hill, NSW, and we had a great barbie with some friends we just have met. :)
We had spent 1½ day at Mungo National Park in almost 50ºC (in the shadow) and were very grateful when we realized that the best place was under a old gnarly tree which was on top of a small hill where the wind blew - somewhat related to living in a hair drier, but better than down in the valley, where there was no wind ...

Time flies ... :) :( :)

Happy New Year everyone! And if someone comes to visit, feel free to help yourself to something to eat and drink--just remember the 2 quart pitcher of yellow liquid in the freezer is not lemonade, and so you'll be needing a smaller glass if you want to partake of that pitchers contents.

Slider, check out this peltier cpu cooler here:p

It's a water cooling system but the peltier's chill the water to below ambient temp!

Only problem: High cost....almost as much as a Q6600 processor

Happy New Year!!

Duvie has one of those. And it doesn't do a lot better than a Ultra 120 extreme.

I think it's only a matter of how far you want to take it. I've read about people that run Peltiers that they had to check to be sure they weren't freezing their CPU to the point the semi-conductor properties were being affected. (I don't have any personal experience with them though.)

The ultra 90 or 120 HSF is an excellent choice for the majority of us that have cool houses where the ambient temp is low 20 C. However, in the case of Slider it's approaching 37 C in his house so traditional air cooled or water cooled systems can only do so much because they depend on reasonable ambient temps to do their jobs.

This one is kind of unique. The peltiers are stacked on top of the "radiator" so they only chill the water that cools the chip. So if you live in a hot dry house this is a big advantage. If the house is hot and humid then there are condensation problems which would really be bad so you can only set the water temp a few degrees below ambient.

It's expensive though but I thought it might be good for those that live in very hot and dry climates and have no AC.

I think I'd opt for the 4,375 from a (WXP) quad with 2 SMPs

lol I think that's a clear & cut case;)

Oh & lol about 'forgetting' to sell the X2s :D

Thanks for the info :)

Broken Hill is certainly a hot place! I've seen Sydney a few times but have never managed to get to the Hill.
