I googled for "computer 8.3 mode" and didn;t get anything that looks like what you are talking about.

I took my DMV test in a pristine GT350 with 5-point harnesses. The DMV guy was like :shocked:

I never drove a classic GT-40, but I did get a ride in one from my Mom. Side note: Mums (now passed) used to drag GT500's at Pomona back in the day. And win. Badass. I come from a family of racers. I just halved the wheels, but kept up the tradition.

Funny, Mark thinks computers, I thinks cars. You expose your affinity for Fords. The '65 Mustang did 0-60 in about 8.3 seconds, but I would imagine some of those mobiles pictured could do the 1/4 mile in 8.3 seconds. Shelbies and AC Cobras, yikes. At the time (1965) the AC was the fastest "production" vehicle: 0 - 60 in 4.6 seconds. A 1/4 mile in 8.3? Probably, huh?

Back then, my dad was buddies with one of Shelby's rivals: Dan Gurney. My only claim to fame is I got to ride in one of the Gurney Eagles when they towed it to the trailer. :laugh:
 
Well, cars is my other hobby (see sig). One of my favorites was my brothers 66 Sunbeam Tiger, with a 351 Cleveland, and 2.06 rear gears. At the time I had a 68 Corvette convertible, 327, 375 horse. I would get him 0-60, but 60-160 it was pretty even. We got his up to 190 one day on a nice straight stretch.

I was talking computers in that case. 😀

My personal first car was a '69 Mustang Fastback... (rooting around for pictures....) Hmmph. It was a family hand-me-down. Straight-six 250ci. I put a six-pack on it, then beat it to death. Poor car. Traded it for a P.O.S. 1975 Fiat 128 Spider with no brakes, which after some modifications was actually a LOT of fun to drive..

That motor is one of my favs!! That Sunbeam was a pavement peeler. One of my first cars was a Mach 1 with that motor and I've built a bunch of cars since, based on it. LOL

What a riot! My dad had that same car and motor. Pistons the size of your fist. Those Spiders had a lot "no this's". 🙂

Never had a hot car but I did ride a '72 Norton Commando.

My daughter gave me a hard time about the environment/CO2 etc so I traded in my 300M for a toyota Prius😛

(OK a Shelby would beat my azz, but it was worth it to see one leave a light (and me) behind)

I think my Vette had quite the chance.. What 0-60 ? 1/4 ? or 60-160 ? The 442 was good, but heavy, and didn;t handle for squat. I always liked a nice balance.

Well, on the topic of the 351, I must admit, the last 351-powered mobile I had was a fully restored, chrome up the wazzoo, DeTomaso Pantera. It got with the program, but pretty much only in straight lines, and not on a hot day. 😎

They topped above me, but.... weren't an issue poppin' between lights.

Ya'll talk cars, and I want to go hide in my 23-bay server case. I hate cars--I want a car that I never have to worry about inflating the tires and all that funny stuff. /me runs and hides from the car people.
