Yes, I can't wait for it. It has a horror-movie theme, along the lines of "The Ring" and such. The graphics are definitely up there with Far Cry and Doom 3. The time-warp thing is really cool, as well as the "bullet-time" mode. The ultra-creepiness factor is definitely there.

Gamespot's been following the game since E3 this year, here's their
Impression

"The closest we can liken it is to imagine the Japanese horror movie The Ring meets Half-Life."

Ignoring the bullet time crap, yes I have read a full arcticle on FEAR and next gen games in the most awsome and interesting tech magazine on earth, Game Informer! These guys went into serious detail about it, and I'm anticipating it as much as I did HL2.

Bullet time is just one part of it. You can't judge the game simply by this component.

What I'v gotten out of an article i read is that u and ur team all have "special abilities" Ur character has the bullet time thing but u cant use it all the time like in max pain. and ur friend has telepathy i think? he can sence things. like what happened in a room just by touching sumthing

This game does look insain. and im almost anticipating it mroe than HL2 (almost). How much of a Next Gen game is this gonna be? will i really see a performace decrease on a 9800 pro. (will this game really take advantage of the new technologies that new cards (6800gt) have to offer?

I thought this was the most impressive PC title at this past year's E3, and they didn't show very much of it....this and STALKER are the next 2 big shooter titles...

No official word on NOLF III . . . .

HOWEVER, Fox bought the webname and space for:
http://nolf3.com/
although there is nothing there . . . . yet.

Speculation

but i'd bet on a third installment. ;)

:)

edit: Anyone ever play Contract Jack? it's evidently related to NOLF/II . . . . it came out a year ago (same corny but fun humour)

No idea about FEAR . . . . i say "surprise me"

the best games are UNexpected - Like Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay ;)

. . . better then HL2

Ooooo, bullet time, psychic abilities, and "terror", if they throw in a rewind mode this will be the best game eva! Obviously it'll have an 18 certificate to make it appeal more to the 12 year olds who enjoy derivitive muck like this.

Definitely looks good, but will anyone ever make a game where I DON'T have to fight against monsters/zombies/robots/cybernetic things/aliens? These "exotic" elements aren't really exotic anymore so I'd like to see a futuristic shooter with just human NPCs and enemies.

I don't think we'll be seeing any original and inspired games coming out for the PC in the near future. It used to be that games developers were pushing graphics cards manufacturers to develop faster cards, but nowadays it's the other way round - card manufactureres are pushing game developers to create even flashier graphics, the trouble is, down to developing scheduals and all they aren't given time or the freedom to be creative and try out new ideas. Secondly, the big old "market research" crap has crippled them, they're too scared to think up new ideas incase the game will flop.

is it just me or do others think that Command and Conquer Red Alert was better than Red Alert 2? at least in the single player

LOL

I've no idea, I haven't played the original but I got RA2 in a games bundle. I played it once then went back to playing Dune 2 :^) I wasn't into PCs much when the influx of resource management RTS games infested the market, I probably would have whinged about that too back then. Nowadays, looking at the secondhand shelves of of the local Gamestation store all I ever see are FPS games - Quake 2, Unreal, Doom3 and all those lazy war games, sorry "experiences". Hidden among all those you see the Sims and it's countless expansion packs and occasionally a gem like SimCity 4

Nonsense . . . . try Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher's Bay- Developers Cut . . . . they didn't reinvent the FPS, but they do thing differntly enough to make it very very interesting.

Think of video games as a parallel to "movies" . . . . there aren't many original and inspired movies coming out for the cinema in the near future.. . . . but they ARE there and there will also be original games coming out for PC). ;)

you have to sift thru the crap :p

AFAIK, Lith hasn't made a bad game yet, so I'm not going to pre-judge this game... but the screenshots don't do much for me either. A lot of FPS's are just the same thing again and again, so I don't buy too many.

Ok, so the screenshots aren't that good-looking, well watch some of the videos on this page F.E.A.R. and then tell me that the game is not impressive.
