Graphics look pretty nice, but so far has the distinction of being the only app of any kind which has locked up my X2.

I found that annoying enough to not bother with it beyond that point.

i have just started playing the demo, but the graphics looks good and i feel the gameplay is real fun, with the slow motion. The AI is real good and makes the game real fun to play. I am playing it at 1680x1050 on my 2005fpw with maximum setting (2xAA and 4xAF) and the game is playing fine, only lag i get is when it reads from the harddrive but it is only a quick pause. Game looks very promising.

You spend the thread railing on D3's lighting, you realize D3 had the best lighting ever created in a game, right? Maybe you need to lay off the peace pipe and fix whatever the hell is wrong with your system.

From playing the demo, I think I will be getting this game. Yea, I do agree that the girl appears a little too often, but hopefully that is just the demo level. IMO, I think her appearances should be more like the G-man in HL2, not always easy to spot, and deffinitely uncommon. And yea, I did get a little startled at the ladder and the cieling seemed a little cheesy. It seemed like they could have scared the hell out of me with that guy in the chair, but instead decided not to.

Overall, I think the reason I will play it is because I liked the fire fights to some degree. They were engaging enough to keep playing.

On a tangent, it looks like Prey is shaping up to be the game that will really showcase the Doom3 engine. Every trailer I see of the game gets me more and more excited, which is strange considering it was the biggest vaporware of its time.

I played for about an hour yesterday. The graphics are pretty damn sweet and the slow motion seems to work pretty well.

I don't like the darkness so far. It's too dark and it doesn't seem like there's any point to it being dark. If it's supposed to be dark because there's no power then that's fine but that doesn't seem to be the case. And since it is so dark, wouldn't the main character have a better flashlight?

The AI appears to be smart in some cases and standard in other scenes. Overall, they did a good job with the demo. Can't wait to see the full product.

Demo looks pretty good. OK, it looks pretty fricken awesome. A few horror cliches but nicely done nonetheless

However I must agree with a lot of folks. I'm hoping they code the retail better or patch it. I ran with max everything aside from smooth shadows, 2x then went to no AA, and 4xAF and got some pretty bad choppiness in parts. This at 1280x960 with a Venice at 2.8GHz and BFG 7800GTX OC stock. EDIT and 1 GB TCCD running DDR622 2.5-4-4-8.

Monolith is pretty infamous for having good/great games with engines that kinda sorta suck though.

too bad it was so short. when i went down that ladder the little girl didnt scare me as much as when the dude was waiting for you at the bottom. i was looking forward to fighting that boss at the end of the demo though, they could have at least given us that!!

I tried playing it for a little bit yesterday. I'm guessing you need at least 2gb of ram to play it smoothly. I didn't like it all that much. It's very similar to HL2 which made me feel sick everytime I tried to play it.

Uhh no. I have an X800 XL which runs it fine. I'm sure your card will at least be able to run it.

The Demo was pretty damn short, but all in all I enjoyed it alot. It's one to get when it comes out.

Gamestop is offering a multiplayer BETA with the preorder.... tempting. NM... it's the same BETA I had from the first release.

I went ahead and preordered anyway...

Played the demo last night. I certainly was expecting more. The graphics engine is not nearly as tight as say doom or Half-life. It seems chunky and clumsy. Aiming is a bitch and the guns are fairly half-assed. The machine gun I can't tell if I'm firing or not and if I'm shooting at someone the thing is impossible to control. I'll wait til Prey or Quake 4 and definatley Half Life 2 expansion! The only thing I got excited about was the Sierra Logo right in the beginning of the game, they put out some quality games back in their day.

This is kind of off topic but how come in all of the screen shots of all the cool games they always have an idiot playing? Look at the first screen shot for example the guy is standing out in the open (almost looks like he's layng down, how does that help?) with an enemy a couple feet away from him to the left pointing his gun directly at the player while the player is looking towards the right at a guy a couple yards away peeking around a corner. I'm amazed they can show us anything besides the first level.

It must hard to aim because who ever was playing in those movie sure couldn't aim. He must of hit the walls and floor more than the enemy.

i thought it was different and fun. and they pulled off the horror aspect really well. I thought seeing yourself in the ceiling of blood was pretty intense. Self shadows and being able to see your feet really added to it.
At the end of the bloody hall, that was pretty scary.
I pre-ordered this, and am I not regretting it!

I thought it ran really well, I put the settings to max, 1280x1024, had no problems, I think I left soft shadows off, I didnt notice enough visual improvement to keep it on, i would cause some glitching in between rooms.
And the loading was LIGHTNING fast.

I'm downloading it from Sierra's home site. I have 35% done so far. Hour and twenty minutes left. DSL rocks. I feel bad for you ppl still stuck with 56k. Games looks good but I might have to go to the bathroom before playing. Hope the aiming isn't as hard as some ppl said it is or atleast I hope I'll get used to it because this game looks like to much fun. Be really fun if they have Co-op like Ghost Recon and squad vs. squad like BF2 online.

First Emmergency Assistance Recon?

I got the game and when I first played it is scared the sh!t out of me I could barely play. If I didn't watch the trailers I would of been scared but since I did I was expecting somthing around over corner and behind every door.

You can't compare a retail game (D3 or HL2) to a demo. If I went solely on the graphics of demos, I would never have bought BF2 cuz the graphics on the demo sucked something awful. The retail is a whole lot better though.

As far as the guns go... they have a lot more recoil than current games which makes it more realistic. This is one of the first FPS where it's not just point the dot at the moving thing and click. You have to keep moving and readjusting your aim. How can you not like that?

Very pleased...

I have played it on a venice 2.5 ghz, 1 gig of DDR 400 @ 2-3-2-6, and 6800GT @ 380/1.07 2x/4x no SS, 1116*640 on 30" TV, very nice, ran pretty well. On the rig in my sig, slow @ default in game settings +1280*1024. The real surprise? A 2.66 P4 @ 2.8 w/1 gig 2-3-3-6 PC2100 Ram and a GF4Ti4200 @300/550 played it pretty darn well at medium CPU/minimal GPU @ 1280*1024. Actually looked pretty decent too, reminded me of playing CS:S with my 5900U while waiting for my 6800U to show up. I think GF4's should work decent with this game, those of you looking to get in can pick up GF4's pretty cheap from BF2 junkies. If you already have one, you are sure to be able to play 1024*768 w/o much issue. Much better scaling than D3 in those regards :)
