Eyes Right!

Eyes Right!

The "Eyes Right" command is the biggest complement troops on parade
can pay and is reserved for dignitaries in reviewing stands.
A lone young Belgian boy is waiting to salute the Canadian troops passing
by who had been attending a memorial service.

Such class from the Canadian troops - watch what they do for this little boy...

I thought that was pretty neat. The only times I've seen the troops do the eyes right is when passing by the Governor General on Remembrance Day.

Awesome.

The only time we'll do an eyes right is for the commanding officer on parade. That's one lucky kid.

Well isn't it for commanding officer and dignitaries as well? Like visiting brass, foreign, and top political figures? Being in the whole cadet thing, we don't do it often enough to really drill in exactly who gets the honor.

But for that little kid. That's awesome. Good for him. 🙂

Half the troops didn't even do it. Thats the type of thing that gets people killed in combat. Silly Canadians.

That was probably the curlers. They'd be more useful in combat.

Well technically the people on the far right, at least what I've been instructed, are supposed to keep their heads remaining straight.

Them Canucks might do it differently though...

It'll look a lot better once they find 50 hosers that know the difference between left and right.

* Eyes Right: The parade turn their heads to the right after a check pace. The parade leader salutes while looking in the direction they gave.

This is done while looking to the right, except the right marker, who must stay looking to the front, to keep the flight, squad, platoon, etc. staying straight.

i didn't have the sound on, maybe that's why i didn't feel any pride.

usually i'd be wellin' over crap like this.

Yeah, the sound adds a lot to it. O Canada is playing, then you hear the guy yell out the command... 🙂
