Half the troops didn't even do it. Thats the type of thing that gets people killed in combat. Silly Canadians.

Well technically the people on the far right, at least what I've been instructed, are supposed to keep their heads remaining straight.

Them Canucks might do it differently though...
* Eyes Right: The parade turn their heads to the right after a check pace. The parade leader salutes while looking in the direction they gave.

This is done while looking to the right, except the right marker, who must stay looking to the front, to keep the flight, squad, platoon, etc. staying straight.

Ok that makes sense.... then why did the OTHER half of the "right markers" look right? Either way it was F'ed up. And whats with that synthesizer music?

Apparently the Belgians teach their kids young that when a foriegn army marches thru its best to show respect.
Since it happens so often......

Actually The Belgians & Dutch (particularly the Dutch) really love Canadian Soldiers because they were the units that help liberate them from the Germans in WWII.

Cheers,

I'm thinking, that with those that looked right when they shouldn't have, and the fact that some looked at the boy and smile... they weren't exactly treating it like an official Eyes Right. 😉

Crazy. 19 years old.

My grandparents were Dutch and left Holland after the Nazis invaded. My grandmother jumped on a boat to England while getting chased.

Just for clarification, only one person doesn't do the eyes right. The right marker is just one person.

IIRC Monty blew the capture of Antwerp by not securing the passages leading to it and gave the Germans time to fortify their defense. After the Brits failed to take the approaches he basically had to send the Canadians into a meat grinder.
So, I guess the Flemish have a reason to appreciate the Canadian army.

They cut off the video. What you actually missed happened about 5 seconds later when that little boy detonated an IED killing them all.

A 7 yr old Belgian kid salutes and you... resist... the urge...

Bravo.

Shens. Their military doesn't have that many people.

We would have more if your F-16 pilots in Afghanistan would stop with the friendly-fire incidents and quit dropping bombs on our troops and killing them.
