<< so what type of variable valve technology does Nissan and Toyota use in their engines? which manufacturer has the best VVT tech? >>

Toyota uses VVTi (Variable Valve Timing intelligent) :D... Mitsubishi uses MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing and lift Electronic Control)... Nissan uses NEO VVL (Variable Valve Lift). All pretty much the same idea... just different ways of executing it. But Ferrari has the coolest sounding one... Variable Valve Ballistic... ooooooohhhh... that sounds so $200,000ish.

<< my 2k SI can spank your 'lude.

If you can't tell from my pics, I'm over in WC.

The Prelude's too heavy for serious dragging, but I run a 14.7 in the 1/4. I suppose taking out the 2 10's in the rear might help a bit too, probably shave off .1.

You going to autocross this season?

I like drving my Civic EX with vtec.. its fun, and the extra burst of power at high RPMS is really fun when getting onto the highway.. taking it to 80 in 3rd gear is grat, plus I can drive it like that, and maintain good fuel economy, and I dont worry about strain on the engine, I have an extended warranty.

Bottom line is, I dont care if your big american engine can waste me. I like to drive my car, and I hope that you like to drive yours too, but your not the one driving mine, so leave me alone.

hehe, I was totally talking sh|t (in related news, FREE NATE!!). Yesterday I was (stupidly) racing what looked like a pretty well modded acura legend on 183 yesterday and beat him...hehe...good feeling. I only have a couple of mods...yeah i aimed mostly at sound too with my infinity kappa system.

autocross?? im not that into it. but i will be at the tejas party tomorrow night ;)

SI's run about 15.7-ish stock..I'd say i run high 14's...Ive never done the official racing stuff.

the other day in our complex, a pretty sweet prelude (altezzas, koing rims, aftermarket stereo, cool silver pearl paint) was left on the floor, rimsless, everything gone....:(

If you're ever interested . . . Spokes. I don't know of any places around in Austin, I went up to Texas Motorplex near Dallas.

Stock 5th gen Preludes run 15.7's with auto, 15.2's with manual.

Ehh, I don't really like altezzas, prefer a clean look. Hopefully I won't have that problem with my Volk's and wheel locks, but you never know . . . :disgust:

I'll take my supercharged v-10 dodge 2500 over a honda. I did have an '86 prelude back in the day, complete with a NOs system. Never took that to the track tho, only had my Dodge truck on the track.

<< Very little ppl know this, but the effects of vtec stickers is exponential! One vtec sticker will give an additional 10 hp, but two vtec stickers will give 10^2 = 100 hp!!

Therefore, instead of one large sticker on the hood (which provides 1000 additional hp), you could simply put 3 vtec stickers on the hood to provide the same performance increase! To imagine your entire hood covered with vtec stickers. You could probably fit 40 stickers on there. 10^40 hp = chick magnet!

And dont forget the "powered by rice" sticker.

What if I write "VTEC" "NOS" with a Sharpie? :D

<< Honda (and typically most Japanese) engines have smaller displacement and less cylinders. To compete with American counterparts (where the typically philosiphy is bigger displacement = more power), VTEC implements two distinct cam lobes. >>

Many American engines can get pretty close fuel economy of Japanese engines when you're just cruising down a high way at 65mph. Japanese engines can usually idle and go through stop and go traffic with lesser fuel consumption.

<< PS, I like your Prelude. Have you had it dynoed after the CAI and headers compared to before? I've heard that a new cat-back doesn't do jack for a Honda (stock cat-back is nearly perfect as is), but with the headers and cat, you can see some gains. >>

Thanks, but I'm too stingy to get a dyno tune done yet. Going to get a fuel controller and cam gears before I get dyno'ed.

And for all the "my <insert domestic car here> can kick your ricer burner!", I quote myself from another thread (I'm too lazy to to type it anymore):

<< The bottom line is, everyone likes their cars for different reasons and there is no one #1 brand. Domestics have their advantages, imports have their advantages. People with money and knowledge can do extraordinary things with both types of cars. >>
