Who actually HATES the drivers of these SUVs based on the vehicles themselves by the way?

While I don't hate or even dislike the owners of the offensive vehicles, I do find them to be lacking in common sense when they use them as single occupant commuter vehicles.

I wouldn't hate them as much if

1. They're held to the same pollution / mileage standards as cars
2. They forced to have crash systems that give other cars a fair chance
3. They don't get special exemptions like being able to use light guards where cars can't
4. People stop claiming they're bought for space / function when there are cars that are better
5. Suburban houswives would quit buying a car that gets 12/18 mpg for trips to the supermarket just so she doesn't have to pay attention to her driving while she's painting her nails or talking on the cell phone.

Edit: 6. Oh wait, I also hated that tax write off that small business owners got for buying an SUV over 6000lbs last year.

d)never had a problem with that in my 323 hatch myself.

totally insignificant? if everyone that didn't really use one would switch from an SUV (or truck) to a mid sized sedan that would pretty much double the gas mileage of those people. in the US with 50% of new vehicles sold being trucks/suvs that could be 25% reduction in demand. that is sizeable. i agree, it's insignificant for just one vehicle, but in aggregate of its a totally different matter. same for the roads.

as for environmental matters, about 1/3 of greenhouse gases in the US are output by cars.

in a 323 hatch you claim you can see over/around/through a large SUV? i call bullsh!t.

edit: and i completely forgot that SUVs are far more damaging when collinding a car than a car-car collision

5. I personally have an issue with people blasting their handling on road, since it's clear they're not a sedan and shouldn't be driven as such, but i couldn't care less whether you have a 4WD and don't take it off road...or tow, or have a large family and take it camping etc...

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Fvck no. I'm not intimidate by morons.
4. Dual Core CPUs are OBVIOUSLY very much like low MPG, polluting SUVs, which have a tendency to kill whatever person in a smaller car they run into
5. That's your problem.

I hate people who hate SUVs. IT's a truly trivial thing to be bothered by. No I don't drive one or even particularly want one, though I do think the Infiniti FX 45 is damn sexy.

1. The fuel is not rightfully anyones. It goes to whomever can pay for it. If they want to waste more money on it than me, then let them. When it runs out, I'll walk or ride a bike. And sit back and watch the morons panic & fight to the death over what's left.

2. See above.

3. What man would be intimdated by that? Not this one.

4. I don't dislike them. So that statement is moot.

5. I have a 4wd. It's not one of those huge trucks though. It's a small crew cab pickup. I use the 4wd whenever it's needed (rain, snow, dirt roads, towing, etc..) It does make difference and that's what it's used for. I've never understood how insurance companies have the nerve to charge more when your vehicle has 4wd. It makes it safer than any 2wd.

One last thing: The whole complaining about how a collision between an SUV and a smaller vehicle is unfair, is beyond stupid. You chose to buy a small vehicle. You know what is out on the road when you bought it. You're the moron. Don't bring a knife to a gunfight. Or watch wtf you're going and you won't have to worry about it.

I hate SUVs because almost every time I drive past the scene of an accident, sure enough, an SUV is involved.

yes, because we all know that if you drive just fine you won't get in an accident. no, you don't have to ever worry about some idiot talking on their phone or driving like they're in a grand prix.

iirc, 4wd trucks are more likely to flip than 2wd trucks. that is why you're charged more. they have actuarial data to back them up.

and again, unnecessary SUV/truck owners don't just waste more money on fuel, they drive up the fuel by increasing the demand for it. so that affects everyone else's pocketbook directly.

Oh the irony...They're not showing the Steelers game here today. They're showing a "Jeep Mountain Bike" competition. Fvcking bike racing over NFL football?

That has absolutely nothing to do with the size of the vehicle now does it?

That would be "modified 4wd trucks" Almost all stock 4wd truck's are no higher than 2wd truck's.

The cost of fuel is determined by OPEC. Not supply or demand. And by the willingness of how much the sheep will pay for it. If you doubt me, wait until all of the refineries that were suppposedly damaged by hurricanes, are back up and running. Let's see if the cost of fuel goes down to where it was before August 2005.

I know that you're D.O, I am referring to N.A. And speaking of which, why are your fuel prices high?

Edit: D.O=D.U (Down unda)

It's like watering your lawn during a drought.

Does anyone know what percentage of the cost of building and maintaining roads is covered by gas taxes?

Uh..dude...the Steelers play Monday night. Just FYI.

And I own an SUV, am single, and don't tow anything. Don't like it? Good, cuz I don't care. Wanna dictate what I can and can't drive? Start making my car payment every month, then go for it.

the damage done has quite a bit to do with the size of the vehicle. but i still refuted your statement 'watch wtf you're going and you won't have to worry about it.' you can't trust other drivers to driver properly, and even if they do drive properly there is still a chance for an unavoidable accident.

i'm pretty sure that almost all 4wd trucks sit a couple inches higher than most 2wd trucks from the factory, with the exception of those off-road package trucks like Z71.

you've just proven how little you know by saying that supply and demand have nothing to do with it. i suggest you leave the thread before putting your foot any further into your mouth.

HAHA, I just realized that. A$$hole announcer said "up next, Pittsburgh at San Diego. I was like: Oh yeah, then I saw bicycles and freaked out. I guess the word "next" has a very broad definition.

I have a Chevy Tahoe!!! On NO!!!!!

There are bad drivers in any sized vechile, I see little ricer cars zigging in and out of traffic all day long, I drive my SUV for the utility of it, when I need to get some hardware from Home depot I'm always glad I have my Tahoe any day over something like this.
