I recently (most likely) tore the labrum in my left shoulder, and my left bicep while rolling in my MMA class. It's been about a month and I've been the shoulder Dr. twice. He's not done an MRI for complete confirmation but is pretty sure it's a least a partial tear. Has anyone had experience with rehabbing their shoulder without surgery? It's my understanding that they don't heal on their but can be stabalized by strengthening the muscles surrounding it. Has anyone done it this way and if so what were your results and time frame on it being usable again?

I'm missing my mat time.

I tore the labrum in my right shoulder (glenoid labrum tear) while pitching baseball in college. Rehab was tried but ultimately I ended up having surgery to repair it. It was a looooong time ago (almost 18 years) so perhaps physical therapy techniques have improved since then. In my case no matter how much PT I did I could not raise my arm above my head without excruciating pain.
