Paul and Giuliani are the only two moderate libertarians running. Of the two, only Giuliani has a realistic shot at the nomination and has promising numbers when pitted against Hillary or Obama.
If Giuliani gets the nomination, he gets my vote.
I would hardly call Paul a 'moderate libertarian', he's very strong in his views. He's also the most principled politician in washington today. And Giuliani is your typical panderer, you'll see.
When taken as a whole on ALL issues, he is a moderate. Look at the link above. That's not a bad thing. A fanatical libertarian would never have a shot.
But one has to face reality. Paul doesn't stand a chance in hell at the nomination, much less against Hillary/Obama. Giuliani does. Do I like Paul? Sure! But me liking him doesn't make his poll numbers perform miracles. Nothing is going to do that.
Giuliani is the most libertarian candidate with a shot. A smart person would throw their weight behind the best guy who actually has a shot. Giuliani' nomination poll numbers are high enough, AND his numbers when pitted against Hillary/Obama are high enough as well.
Pragmatism wins over idealism any day in the real world.
