Evolution a hoax? Ask a Republican Presidential Candidate...

From last night's debate, see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4Cc8t3Zd5E

Now, I can understand the push for "Intelligent Design", [although I think it has no place in a science class] which as I understand it, accepts the billion year old history of the universe, but claims a god started it all with some plan in mind. But to claim not to believe in evolution and be a candidate for the office of the most powerful man in the world? Not to blaspheme, but Jesus H. Christ!

They believe god created man 5000 years ago or something? And dinosaurs are a hoax perpetrated by scientists, who run around burying bones to screw with true believers? And carbon-dating is as real as the tooth fairy?

There's a time to every purpose, right? Then there's a time to say enough insanity, enough stupidity, enough blinding oneself to truth in favor of faith. We can't take another president who thinks science is evil. Luckily the 3 who raised their hands are not frontrunners. Also a shame is that I've seen Mike Huckabee interviewed on several shows and he seems like a really terrific candidate in most other respects. Never thought he was a crackpot though.

In the words of Johnny Storm: Flame On!

Lol McCain, first he tries to court the fundy base by visiting Falwell's university (after publicly blasting him years earlier) and in one word he probably aliented the fundies again.

Bill Maher might be able to use the expression "President Sh*t-For-Brains" for another four years.😛

Oh how I wish the Republican party would get back to plain old conservative ideals rather than continuing to court the right-wing religous zealots.

<-- former registered Republican, now registered independent

Do you honestly think that just because someone doesn't believe in evolution that it will curb their ability to lead politically?

Well, there was ONE republican in that debate that wasn't completely worthless:

 Ron Paul!

Wow, from that soundbite I like him. Might have to dig into his stance of he's going to be hamstrung by the Repub Platform. How much of a shot does he realistically have though...another repub from Texas may get painted by the GWB brush.

You have to pander to the people that vote. Old religious people are a big chunk of the voters.

The really sad part in this coming election is that right now it looks guaranteed, IMO, that a Republican will get in again because the Democrats can't produce a moderate candidate.

It's the catering to the extreme right-wing religous zealots that I don't like.

 Ron Paul!

Yeah, and he isn't even really a Republican. That's probably why I like him 😛

He's a libertarian and he's quite vocal about his displeasure of GWB. He has a contrarian stance on almost every issue to that of Bush.

Where have all the leaders gone 🙁

Lots of great leaders are out there. The problem is that people don't vote for a leader. Just like in high school, people vote for the person who swears that they're going to get two more soda vending machines in the cafeteria.

Really? Now, he's got me really interested. I'll have to check him out when I get home from work. I'm not going to digging around political sites from work. 🙂

A better video on most of what he said during that debate (not just the iraq war)

Paul and Giuliani are the only two moderate libertarians running. Of the two, only Giuliani has a realistic shot at the nomination and has promising numbers when pitted against Hillary or Obama.

If Giuliani gets the nomination, he gets my vote.

I would hardly call Paul a 'moderate libertarian', he's very strong in his views. He's also the most principled politician in washington today. And Giuliani is your typical panderer, you'll see.
