Evga 500w bronze or gold, or Cx 450w bronze/Cxm? Which of these do you think is the better PSU? I am doing a budget build and with prices high and stock low these 2 fit my budget, or is there a better one for under $75 to choose? Thanks.

Even that eVGA one is on backorder for 3-4 weeks. Finding power supplies is like looking for hand sanitizer lately.

hand sanitizer is back in stock everywhere, newegg has 200$ psu 750hx in stock if you can manage. i like evga power supplies , im a sucker for higher efficiency too.

Get it quick before it sells out. Probably the best deal for $69.00 right now and it's in stock. The CX line has been around a long time, that new CV line is too new to recommend.

Also i'd prefer the semi-modular design of the CX-M one as it hate cable management.

At first, I had to LOL, then, I realized, yeah, that's basically true. 🙁

So glad I snagged those few EVGA 500W "White" PSUs with (supposedly, haven't opened them yet) dual 6+2-pin PCI-E. Gonna build a couple of AMD Athlon 3000 APU rigs soon, the rest of the parts should be here next week. Not sure if I should use the EVGA PSUs (OK, I should), and make them like "upgradable gaming rigs", and drop in a GTX 1660 ti, and allow the user to upgrade the CPU when they feel like it, or just keep them as APU-only rigs, which would mean putting into the Apevia Captain "470W" PSUs, with ZERO PCI-E cables, and not dropping in the GTX 1660 ti cards.

Mobo in both of them, is the MSI B450M PRO-VDH MAX, which I was able to get both of them at MSRP ($79.99 + ship + tax) @ Newegg. Right now, they're sitting at $189.99 from a 3rd-party seller. Craziness!

The CX line is better than CV. No doubt.

To clear some things up:

The CV450 and CV550 are the same platform as the VS450 and VS550. The PWM MOSFETs have been upgraded and the output choke has been upgraded to one with less resistance to help improve efficiency.

The VS650 is a completely new platform for Corsair, but not new to the world. It's based on the HEC TB Series, same as Fractal Inegra. It's still double forward, but DC to DC is used for hte +3.3V and +5V, so it's really just a non-modular version of the CX650M, but from a different OEM.
 
Yes, I wasn't comfortable with the CV, but the CX-M seems like a good one, read that whole line is CWT.

The CX is better than the CX-M. While the CX-M is semi-modular, it's still a double forward platform. The upgrades are the DC to DC for the +3.3V and the +5V and the fan is rifle bearing (or "hydro bearing" as some marketing folks call it).

The CX is non-modular, but uses a more modern LLC resonant platform. Much better for the transient loads of higher end graphics cards.

Unfortunately, the CX450 at Newegg is being sold by a third party at a super inflated price. CX450M is only $69.99.

Thanks for that information, I'm interested in learning more about this; I can put off the build a bit to do so. Are there any PSUs that you'd recommend, staying under $100; $75 would be better.

The CX450M is fine. Get it while you can. Goodness knows when inventory levels will be back to normal.
 
I've held off as I wasn't sure what I was going to end up doing. Now that the new cpu/mobos are in I am getting ready. I have seen that CX450 come and go for $65 a few times, the CX450M has stayed in stock--making me think perhaps the CX is preferably to the CXM just based on how fast the CX sells out at the same price the CXM just sits there. But while the EVGA GD is still backordered there is a EVGA 600BR for same price as the CX450/M is that bronze evga any good?

Not the BR. The BQ is the decent Bronze EVGA PSU.

My sympathies to you guys with terrible PSU prices in NA when the same USD70 is able to net me a CM MWE550 Gold here in Singapore.
 
Was $13 more, a New on eBay item--don't think there'd be a warranty buying that way--but they're all gone now.

Seller says gets those BQ650 from manufacturer so has warranty; good for $88 (more in stock now) I saw the CX650 in stock again yesterday for $70 but is gone again. Since they are both 650W is one better than the other?

I'm always wrong but I'd say cx650 with gray label. They both seem fine, did you check the reviews for both of them at all? I just wasted 5 mins and read both reviews. Cx650 looks tiny bit better but go look for yourself its fun
 
Yes, I have been researching it, but there's a lot that I think comes down to experience with them, that's why I ask, and I agree the CX seems like a safe bet, but the EVGA BQ is new on my radar so hoping someone here might know more.
