EVGA X58 Classified now on newegg

But the board contains THREE times as much gold content in the CPU socket. If I was to guess I would imagine a normal MB would have about a bucks worth, THREE TIMES MAN! I looked at the pics, it sure looks nice, the IO plate has a lot of USB ports but I don't see how Evga thinks $440 for this is resonable at all. Now I know Newegg will probably sell it for slightly less, but damn it's not like it has USB3 or even built in WiFi. Seems very expensive & not a good deal to boot. I'm sure some people will run to buy this, but it doesn't have any features I can't find on another MB. I'm not even entirely sure what the 3x gold in the cpu socket is good for? I mean ok it's better, but why do we need it?

DFi needs to counter with a $600 super uber board. I mean I could buy a Lanparty x58 and it will glow in the dark. EVGA can't even give me UV and expect me to pay $440 HA! Evga also says "the socket is anodized a slick shiny black!" Awesome I MUST HAVE IT! Wait, once I put a CPU in and toss a heatsink on the fact it's black means nothing at all. Actually with a CPU alone the socket wouldn't be visible lol. This MB might have been one of the worst ideas ever. All the features they're hyping are pretty lame. Even if this turns out to be the best x58 MB on the market, the price is still ridiculous.

Nope, I'll still be getting the UD5.

For $400 - $450 (which will equate to £350+ in the UK) the MB would have to be hand crafted by a harem of volumptuous maidens.

Unless your using sub 0 cooling like LN2 or dry ice there is no need for it really. There older version for $299 is kinda high as well but they do sell a lot of MB, not sure how. The X58 for only $269 is attractive but with a limited warranty,I've also found that there "life time warranty" is anything but life time as well.........
regards!

just so that a few months from now a 32nm new socket is released, and the buyers will then have to either keep the Classified and cry about not having the highest end stuff, or be forced to sell it 😛 😛 😛

Hay, EVGA has the step up program, you get 90 days. So if the new socket MB comes out they can just pay EVGA like $100 bucks to take their "old" Classified board back and upgrade to the new one.

I7 X58 is here to stay for a while; it will be good through the 32nm 6core/12thread CPUs. The 32nm i5 boards (P55) should hit sometime this year, but they are targeting a different market. Unless Intel's mid-range eclipse their enthusiast line (stranger things have happened) the X58 should be "top dog" for a while.

If you ask me, the step-up program is a bunch of crap. you end up spending more on the product. You end up paying at least retail. The only good I can see out of it is that you dont have to worry about selling your current product to get money ack for the new product.

even if you get a killer deal on a product; from what I heard, you pay the diff from retail to what you paid. so it all ends up that you pay retail for the new product.

back on topic. I hated paying $310 plus shipping for my mobo; screw $450. at this rate by next year high end boards will be $500+. I think they need to go back to when higher end boards were only $200ish. That is easier to take than 300+. I dont hink any mobos are worth 300+, especially when something better comes along every 2-3months.

we all are in the wrong business, we need to be with these thieves. just my opinion
