I should have known, the ricers of the PC world would care about trivial issues like how a heatsink looks on a graphics card. Even if the heatsink is virtually invisible when the card is installed, all you see is a shallow profile.

Just put some LEDs or cold cathodes on it, it'll bling out... :p

I can upgrade to it too with the trade up program. Gonna wait and see what the benchmarks are like, and if the cooling really works. Cause me just sending it off would leave me without a video card for a couple of days

Boy did I get lucky! I bought my 6800GT on June 28, and now eVGA says that all products bought after June 22 have a lifetime warranty!

LoL :D

So, Kensai, when and why do the looks of a videocard matter?

If people are very into case modding, then the looks mean a great deal to them.
Of course it really doesn't matter to most folks. No effect on how it performs.
Superficial is subjective. I would say it matters most to those that bring their modded PC's to LAN events to show off their hardware. No biggie. Live and let live.

Looks like the card shroud comes in other colors as well (Yellow, Orange, Black, Green) So you can pick the color that suits your deco

NV is poop (imo!!)

I them installed on my 6800's and they bent one of the cards, as well as not providing adequete cooling to a couple of the mem bbga's..

On top of that, it voids your warranty!

Note as well, they list 490+/1300+
Wonder what the + is for (overclock without voiding?)

does anyone know if the vf700 fits it? i haven't looked under the hood, if you will, so i don't know if it will or not. i prefer them over the silencers.

For everyone whining about the looks of the card, get over it. I love a nice looking card as much as the next guy but face facts: you NEVER see the damn card because it's pointing down. As to the benches, temps, and overclocks, see here:

http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/evg...ce_7800_gtx_ko_acs3_review/default.asp

And for those saying 490/1300 can be done on stock cooling, that's all well and good, but have you stopped to think about the temps those cards are getting? Now, take a look at the temps FS recorded for the KO and I'm sure you'll be impressed.

With the multiple clock domains I dont want to buy into marketing fluff that doesnt see an actual increase in performance.

If I remember correctly the jump in performance is @ 473-4 and the next is 499 or higher lol ...

You're right Frackal. The big jump after 473MHz happens at 500MHz. I've been doing some testing and the 27MHz jumps really are what 7800GTX owners should be shooting for. The jump from 500Mhz to 520Mhz in FarCry (1600x1200 4AA/8AF) gained me a whopping .2 fps, while going from 499MHz to 500MHz gained me 2-3fps. Not a whole lot either way but percentage wise its huge.

490Mhz sounds pretty sweet on paper but it will perform almost exactly the same as a card clocked at 473MHz.
