evga 7900GT temperture problems

I have a evga geforce 7900GT 256MB.
I recently downloaded Rivatuner and ATItool in order to overclock it and view the temperatures.
I was amazed to see that when in ATItool I activated the "Show 3D view" or "Scan for artifacts" the temperature went up to 73-74C Celsius! On default speeds!!! Ideals very high as well at 57C.
Is this possible or normal?

I am not able to raise the Voltage for my GPU from the BIOS, there is no option on my very bad for OC board (ECS P965T-A).

I had tried to overclock to 540/864mhz but was afraid to fry the card!

Now it's running on default speeds and still very hot, is there something I can do? I am using both Riva Tuner and ATItool, maybe I should download the NVIDIA nTune? Will it be better?

Anyone had the same problems or heard of with his card?

Thanks

Hrm, hows the ambient temp? 74 isn't bad at all. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I persoanlly preferr Rivatuner over ntune.

U can`t raise voltages on your gfx card trough the mobo. With 7900gt your only option is voltmod. U can do it with conductive ink or by soldering.
