Infineon is Qimonda now. It is very popular here in Germany because it belonged to Siemens.

Another manufacturer with impressive results, but only for system RAM, is MDT.

And how is that? The new RAM (Infinion) was chosen due to it's better stability than than the previously used Samsung memoery. Why would it be less stable at speed?

I seem to recall a similar sort of issue back in the GeForce 2 days except that it was 2D quality, not stability at stake back then. Even so, I think it shows that reference boards are exactly that, and they should be optimized by companies seeking to make products. Of course that impacts the ability to churn out large numbers of pcb's cheaply. I know that I always look for custom high quality pcb's for myself and clients, and quality need not cost that much more. The difference in price between a normal 256mb 7900GT and the Xpertvision/Palit/Gainward is only around $40 Australian.

I thought Leadtek just slapped on bigger heatsinks on top of the reference design.

I got my 7900 gt ko superclocked from newegg yesterday and Ive had NO problems with it. The first thing I did was overclock it (look at my sig for specs) and it hasnt had any artifacting or freezing or anything. Played Bf2, COD2, flight sim 04, splinter cell chaos theoy, etc. with great results. Faster than my 7800 gt. I dont know what memory chips it has because they copper heatsink covers them all on my card.

Seems that most people start developing problems within the first 2 weeks. Keep an eye on it.
