EVGA 6600GT for <$50 at CC with PM/AR

[Thx to Gabebeta, Blindbatts, and Fifteenkeys at FW. This is a tough PM and hugely YMMV but can be done. I am only posting this now as the PM is confirmed - it worked for me. The eVGA Step-Up adds a level of complexity and I cannot confirm results as of this posting.]

Circuit City has the eVGA 6600GT 128MB AGP for $249.99 - $100 in rebates (2 x $50). BestBuy.com has it for $149.99, no rebates. Purchase at CC and PM to BB, get another $100 back from the rebates making the final cost:

$249.99 - $110.00 (PM) - $100 (AR) = 39.99 + tax on $139.99.

BB card link (Note different model #)

I purchased mine through CC.com for in-store pickup. Tried PM at pick-up but was denied. Local BB had it for $169.99, could have PM?d it then but wanted the extra $20, and the CC CSR would not PM to BB.com. As it was a CC.com order, I called the 1-800-The-City (1-800-843-2489) and spoke to a CSR, explaining that the BB product has the exact same product description and specifications, and that BB frequently do not use the manufacturer?s model numbering convention. After being places on hold a few times as the CSR went back and forth with who-knows-what, I was told that the credit would be applied in 3-9 business days. I saw the credit by business day # 4.

You may have better luck with the PM after the rebate expiration date (04/29), but who knows what BB?s price will be then. According to the CSR?s at CC, you can return the card to any CC within 30 days of purchase (safety net if PM fails). If you by now, you still have plenty of time to get the PM and submit the rebates or return the card.

To take this deal to another level, use eVGA?s step-up program to upgrade this card, passing on the $200+ savings to the upgrade.

eVGA Step-Up Program

Within 90 days of any eVGA video card purchase, you can to upgrade to another card eVGA sells for the difference + shipping/handling. As an example, you can 'step up' from this 6600GT ($249.99) to the EVGA Geforce 6800GS CO Superclocked 256mb AGP ($269.99) for $20 + tax/shipping. Even upgrade to a PCI-e card or 7xxx series card.

Once you sign up, they?ll send a confirmation email and request a copy of your original invoice. In this case, it is $249.99
They?ll send an email with an RMA# and shipping label/instructions. Mail you card in the original box and once received, you?ll get another email confirmation with shipping information and tracking number.

As a disclaimer, eVGA may deduct the $50 rebate from the invoice. This has not been confirmed yet.

Count on it.

They'll notice the missing UPC code and will ding you 15% restocking fee if you don't acknowledge rebate upfront.

Hi,
I have a quick question about STEP-UP program:

The UPS code is cut out from my box due to mail-in rebate.
Am I still eligible for the step-up program ?

thank you for your time

This is a seriously hot deal if you can get the PM. EVGA has the best customer service in the business for video cards

I'll make a note. I am currently in the middle of a stepup with evga and had to fax in a copy of my invoice and rebate form in order to avoid what I was told would be a 15% restocking fee for any missing item, i.e. UPC code.

you shouldn't have placed online order and arranged in store pickup. Should do that in store with PM that way it is easier for them and thus they might honor it. But after PM, I dont know if the rebates are still valid. Can any1 confirm on that because if the rebates are voided due to the PM, then you only get $10 price break, NEWegg and other online retailers sell for less.

On the contrary, I find it much easier to get a CC PM if you order it online. Actually, never had one declind. All you do is show your email confirmation and ask for a PM at pick-up. There are no rebates printed out, so most of the time the CSR never thinks about rebates and PM. The CSR offered me the $169.99 PM to BB for this vid card, but I turned them down, hoping for the $149.99 PM. Which I got. 😛

And as far as I know, rebates are valid. I've never had a CC rebate voided due to PM (maybe 3 PMs w/ rebates in the last 6 months, but I know others have. Remember, my original invoice is from CC.com and not a register receipt that is barcoded with who-knows-what information, including possible PM info (?).

I'm checking availability for BB and says it's on backorder. You pricematched to a B&M store or to their online price? (the prices online and B&M may be the same so it probably wouldn't matter at the end) I might just have to head to BB later to pick up a flyer.

*EDIT*
Nevermind, you said you PM w/CSR to online. Will they still PM if it's on backorder?

**EDIT**
Oh yeah, I need to print out a copy of my email if I order through CC.com, right? Or can I just go there after placing my order and show ID (seeing as how I don't have a printer at home)?

I doubt if they will PM if on backorder.

As for the pickup, it depends on the CSR. I always have it, but am rarely asked for it. They usually ask for my name and credit card.

Looks more and more grim. Picked up their flyer for B&M stores and no mention of the card. It's not even up for display. HUGE YMMV, but if you can get it to work, then awesome. Maybe I can buy it, pick it up, then hold on to it for 10+ days till they get them back in stock. 🙂

I dont quite understand... I buy it at Circuit City after price matching it to best buys price? Why does it matter if Bestbuy has it in stock or not?

Because CC won't PM if Best Buy doesn't have it in stock. Think of it this way: If Best Buy has a better price, but they don't even have them available, then CC knows you can't leave and buy it from them 😉

I believe the BB B&M's have the card for $169.99 unadvertised. BB.com has it for $149.99.

evga step-up will cover the costs you paid for the graphic card, NOT INCLUDING the rebate amount, tax amount, and shipping amount.

So really the only issue is getting cc to price match a card from best buy that is technically the same thing but is
completely different model?

That and finding an in stock best buy...

I didn't see them at all on the shelves. There was a PNY version that was $149.99 though.

I purchased a second one anyway. That gives BB.com 30 days to get them back in stock so I can PM, then submit the rebates. If not, I'll simply return it.

I might have to do that too. I'll head over to CC after work. Did you order online again for pickup or go to B&M store to buy?

From some CC's as these are clearance items. I got 2 like a month ago, but I was wondering with the step up. On my receipt, it shows that I paid 140$ each for the cards (on seperate receipts, but they both show 140$ due to the 110% price match). Now, if I step up using eVGA's program, won't I have to pay 120$ if I were to step to the 6800GS? Thanks.

I think most places will NOT do a pricematch if it's out of stock somewhere else. Why would they want to lower their price if you can buy it from them for a higher price (if you're that eager to get it)?

Yea that's whta I'm figuring it.
I was checking the EVGA site and a lot of their video cards are all out of stock or backordered.
What's the deal.
How long will the step up take if it's out of stack or backordered ?
