Scroll about halfway down the page and look at the Tweener racquets

Tweeners are going to offer you a nice balance of power and control and are generally a good starting point. I'd encourage you to demo some racquets before buying, either locally or through a demo program like that of Tennis Warehouse.

So I haven't played tennis in a couple years (well not any more frequent than like 3 times a year or so) and my friends and I are going to get back into it, and I'm going to get my GF a racket as well so we can play (she's very beginner).

I have no clue what really makes a racket good or what, and I used to play somewhat often when I was like in highschool (i'm 24 now) and was decent. I am going to just go to sports authority and probably just choose one tonight after I workout.

I am looking to spend like $50 max for a racket for myself, and probabyl like $20-$30 for one for my GF since she's not going to use it that much and a complete beginner. I came accross this one in the ad at sports authority.

Head TI.S2

It is originally $170 and is marked down to $50, so I am assuming it has to be somewhat decent. Also, what advantage/disadvantage does oversized rackets give you?

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Glad to see you are getting back into the game. The Ti S2 is an older and discontinued racquet that was fairly popular about 5-6 years ago. They did have some issues with breakage because of the way the frame was constructed. This might be a reason why you see them fairly cheap now.

Oversized racquets essentially give you a larger surface area to make contact with. If you or your GF have trouble making solid contact with the ball, then you might want to go with an oversize frame. They will also give you a bit more power because they have a larger sweetspot (trampoline effect) than something smaller. Because Oversize racquets are larger, they tend to be lighter with most of the weight being focused in the head of the frame (ie. the top).

For you purbeast, I'd look at something with a 95-105 sq. inch head size. Your girlfriend would probably do better with a 110-120 sq inch head size.

Here are a few racquets that I personally like much more than that Ti S2. They are better all around racquets in my opinion. Good luck!
