A state lawmaker from Lexington County has been indicted on nearly a dozen federal child sex abuse material charges, according to federal court filings unsealed Thursday.

Rep. RJ May, R – Lexington, is charged with 10 counts of distributing child sexual abuse material. Those charges carry a maximum 20-year prison sentence, with a minimum of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina, the social messaging app Kik alerted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in April 2024 of several videos containing child sex abuse from an account with the username “joebidennnn69.” Investigators found at least 10 of those videos had been shared from that account and connected it with May’s mobile device and home IP address.

What the whining was about:
Saying Democratic U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal "calls on Democrats to be ‘strike ready’ and ‘street ready'" and that "This is a CLEAR call to violence!”

What she actually said (back in March):
"We want to help you seed, participate, and coordinate these nonviolent resistance actions that are going to make a difference over the next coming months. If we were in the labor movement—and shout out to any of our union members that are on this call—we might call this getting strike ready. I think of it as getting us strike ready, or street ready, and part of that is understanding our own strength."

What a Republican state Representative John Gillette said on Sep 24:
“Until people like this, that advocate for the overthrow of the American government are tried convicted and hanged … it will continue.” (“It” seemingly referring to political violence.)

Yup. Actually says U.S. Representative should be hanged.

Projection is a great one-word term that means the same thing. Accuse your enemies of what you're doing and then attack them for it. Goebbels and Stephen Miller love this one simple trick. So do the collaborating shitbags who come on here to apologize for obvious and blatant fascism.

Projection is one of the twin pillars of modern conservatism, the other being Cognitive Dissonance. Cognitive dissonance is actually the greatest "strength" of fascism. Strength of course in quotes because it's also its greatest weakness, which is to say fascism is actually perpetuated by weak people who are very afraid of their weakness. I'm sure Moonbeam has a small pamphlet that can be added to this comment. I think Shakespeare nailed it with, "Methinks the lady doth protest too much". Or, see Grindr outages wherever the MAGA fascists assemble to mourn/merchandise with each other.\

Whatever a fascist says is his/her/its strength, attack them on it relentlessly, because they know god damn well that strength doesn't actually exist. Their bluster and crazy-eyed zealotry is them trying to fake it till they make it. Don't forget that, it's all spectacle. They know they're wrong, and they know they're weak. They have power the same reason billionaires have wealth and power: we continue to let them have it. It doesn't have to be like this.

They only make it when we let them make it. History shows this. Without a badge and color of law, fascists are fucking cowards. You see it here when the apologist collaborators shit post and then run away until they think it's mostly safe again. You see it when they get dressed up and pile into the back of a Uhaul truck, and then again when they retreat away at full speed whenever they're confronted by regular people in the community they're trying to incite.
