I bought one of the Everglides when they first came out. If anyone remembers, I did a bulk order of 120 of them and had a group buy on them here. I think I was selling them for $12 shipped and sold them all - so this is a great deal still (originally they cost $17 individually after their inflated shipping). They are great for ball mice. They are kind of a waste if you have an optical mouse though, as the best surface for that is just a large, cheap, cloth pad. No need to pay for premium mousepads for them, these are perfect for ball mice though.
I'm going to have to disagree with you on the optical mice using a large cloth pad. DEFINATELY DISAGREE. these types of pads kick any cloth pad's butt anyday of the week, no matter if optical or ball.

ive been using a cloth freebie for like 5 years. why are these so much better? Im using an optical intellimouse

My logitech blue optical mouse seems to like rough cloth surfaces the most.
I better tracking and unreal 2k3 headshots with it compared to just the regulary wood table or my ratpadz.

have you every tried one of these types as a mousing surface for an extended period of time? even though optical mice are designed to be a lighter load with more precision than a ball mouse, having that extra amount of ease to slide the mouse is nice when using for hours on end. (less resistence, less muscle strain from repetitive movements)

Hey I was thinking about that idea and perhaps we might be able to do something like that for this deal? Have one person do a bulk order of them and then for those of us that want one just buy it from that one person and they can ship it using standard postage. It should come out cheaper at the end for everyone since shipping this way should be less than 4 dollars if shipped within US. Even better would if there's actually anyone that lives in that area perhaps they can go over direct and just buy it and that'll fix the hefty shipping charge. Would any of these ideas be workable?

Oh and a note about these hard textured mouse pads, I currently own a ratpadz but I kind of find them disappointing. The reason I say that's because the texture on the pad seems to get wore out quickly in a few months. While I agree that the material used to make it is durable the texture that's on the surface that gives it the smooth slick mouse movement doesn't seem to have the same durability. In particular, in areas of the pad where you move the mouse around the most happen to be the area where they get wore the most first. If I put my mouse on that wore area and then lift one side of the pad a little the mouse doesn't slide down like it use to. I can't say if the Everglide's the same but that's how my experience with the ratpad was.

I've been using my everglide pad for 4 years and it's still the same. Never had to wash nor the paint on the pad rubbed off.

I saw on their site that ever order ships with 1 set of free skatz. I'm guessing thats not 1 per item, but still it makes up for the high shipping if you get say 3 pads and a skatz for ~10.00 its only costing you ~3.00 shipping.

I've had both the Ratpadz and Everglide... and I liked neither. They wear out too quickly. Plus once the smooth (& reflective) layer is gone the gliding resistance increases a lot.

Now I'm back to the "normal" textile ones, although I only buy the heavier ones with rubber base instead of foam.

sounds like a decent deal if you order multiple pads, but nothing compares to the fUnc pad 🙂
I liked my fUnc pad at first, but I could never get the edges of the pad to stay inside the rubber base piece... I always had a slight upward curve in the pad, making it REALLY hard to use. I dunno, I wish I hadn't spent $20 on the thing 😛

Mine is still going strong after more than 3 years. Are you sure you don't have sandpaper on the bottom of your mouse?

Yea.. I'm wondering too.. I've used mine for a very long time with no adverse wear as far as I can tell.. Then again I haven't used a ball mouse in a couple years either.. Office dept sells desktop matting that almost rivals the texture of my ratpad and it covers a whole desk.. I use it at work with great results. I'll have to find the part number.. it's nice having a 4x4 foot mousepad 😛

I think the problem ViperV990 is describing sounds very similar to the one I last posted on this thread and I have to agree with him. After the texture on my ratpad wore out I notice a lot of gliding resistance as well. In particular the areas of the pad that get wore out the most happen to be the areas where I move my mouse around it the most. The best I can describe what is happening to the pad is this: the smoothness/slickness that we feel when using the pad is due to reduced contact between the mouse and the pad. From what I gathered this is accomplished by having small texture bumps on the pad. But the problem shows up after extensive use (like several months in my case) where you can imagine the small texture bumps getting flattened out kind of like taking a hill and cutting the top off and you end up with a flat surface. This is probably the cause of the increase in gliding resistance. Oh yeah, I also like to add that the worn out areas tend to be more "shiny" then the areas of the pad that aren't worn out.

I'm kind of wondering why no one else that owns these pads are having the same problems as we are though. And no I don't have sandpaper on the bottom of my mouse 😀 'm using one of those microsoft intelliexplorer mouse.

I know, its a real bitch trying to get it to fit flushly in the rubber base. Without the rubber base, you're screwed sinced the pad keeps moving.

Mine came with my computer, so I have no thoughts about it...

you can BEND the fUnc to make it fit the rubber base, well that's what i do everytime when it cruves up. And everglide is nothing compare to the fUnc, its too thick, too harsh to the mouse feet (especially to its own cheapo mouse skatez) and only 1 sided.

Try this: Hold your Everglide or Ratpadz under a light souce and compare various areas of the surface... you will see matt "dots" in the area where it's being used most, indicating that the smooth (and reflective) layer is gone. I've heard ppl fixing this using silicon spray, but I don't think that is gonne help it in the long run, since the spray is filling the surface texture, thus letting the area to get into contact with the mouse feet.

So yeah, I'm back to textile. The gliding resistance of those pads doesnt seem change much over a long time. Plus they are much cheaper 😀
