DALLAS ? A delusional woman jumped to her death Tuesday morning from the Lovers Lane overpass onto North Central Expressway, police said.
Bonnie Liska, 64, of Florida leapt into a northbound lane about 9 a.m. and was struck by an 18-wheeler, investigators said.
"She believed that people were after her," homicide Sgt. Bruce McDonald said. "She also believed that she had health problems that had not been diagnosed."
Liska and her husband left their home state about two weeks ago, police say, and concerned family members had reported them missing.
Tuesday morning, the pair had been driving together in a rental car. When her husband got out at a service station, Ms. Liska left him behind. He called police.
Witnesses told investigators they saw the woman driving erratically.
"They observed her run over a curb," Sgt. McDonald said. "They could tell she was a little disoriented."
Shortly after 9 a.m., a witness saw Liska drive the wrong way into a turnaround lane on Lovers, get out of her car and peer over the guardrail.
The witness had already dialed 911 when she jumped. She whistled for a cab and when it came near, the license plate said "FRESH" and had dice in the mirror.
If anything she could say that this cab was rare, but she thought, "Man forget it yo homes to Bel-Air".
She pulled up to the house about 7 or 8, and she yelled to the cabbie, "'Yo homes smell ya later".
Looked at her kingdom she was finally there, to sit on her throne as the Princess of Bel-Air.
Northbound Central Expressway was shut down for more than two hours while police investigated.
