Lots, though I regularly read 'ignored' posts in a thread I'm interested in. If I used the ignore list as an absolute "I'm not at all interested in what this person ever has to say" measure, then I think there would only be two or three people at the very most on the list.

It was easier to read 'ignored' content on the previous version of the forum software, so I ended up using it like a flagging system, e.g. "danger, Will Robinson! Much derp here!".

The way the ignore feature works now, it has played hell with my ability to read forum threads because it makes unignored people look like they're talking to themselves or flipping out at the post immediately above theirs for no apparent reason :) So I have to scroll to the bottom, 'show ignored posts', scroll to the top again. The alternative is to clear out my ignore list and start again, but that seems like way too much hard work.

Btw OP, I think it's more than a little petty to advertise who's on your ignore list in the way you've done.

It would be kind of cool if we could see if we are on someone's ignore list.

I did for this one persistent troll- he got really mad I didn't follow his workout routine in the fitness subforum. I didn't even make any insults to him.

I guess he decided to take out his life problems out on me. I blocked him several years ago.

Now I just don't care- too old for this crap to care nor people really flame me today (or I use this forum as much today)

It's a bit strange IMO, kinda like not allowing booze or twinkies in the house out of some fear that they would be uncontrollably consumed.

It doesn't take much self discipline to scroll past something without reading it, or in this case, accept what you just read was really dumb and forget about it.

3 people in total. Two for wrecking a picture thread where you can't just scroll past their crap easily. They can take up an entire page of garbage and rather than wasting time for pictures to load if you don't want to see them, it's easier to ignore. Saves time and effort.

Other than those 2, one other for just being too stupid too often. It's not that I can't scroll past or ignore his drivel or that I'd be tempted to look at it and need to protect me from myself. It's not a matter of self-discipline, simply that it's easier to have it all disappear so that I don't click on one of his endless threads by mistake.

Not on this forum, though there are some posters that I rarely do more than glance at before moving down the thread.

If I spent any significant time in p&n I might use it, but I guess we'll never know that for sure.

About a dozen. Half were either Banned or stopped posting. Sometimes I'll allow the viewing of one or two in a thread they are active in, just to see what other Posters are responding to. I like how thorough the new Forum software is, but kinda miss the older software's allowing quoted posts through as well.

The current treatment makes more sense. The one time I tried ignoring a budding village idiot on vB it was pointless, I still saw their threads and every time I ran across one of their replies I was reminded that I was ignoring them. I can't ignore what I'm constantly reminded of.

Yep. Life it too short to listen to the stupid people who post stupid shit just to post stupid shit.

I do like the new feature that even ignores them even if they are quoted.

Nope.

I do find it interesting how the people I see "making fun of" (complaining about in actuality) safe spaces are also ones that tend to regularly threaten to add people to their extensive blocked/ignored member lists.

I lurk on a bunch of forums and must mentally ignore people... but ya, sometimes I see the screen name, tell myself to stop, and I keep going, then I get triggered and make myself feel bad for not heeding the warning.

Me too... "Why did I do that?" Sigh.

That's pretty much why I have an ignore list.

I tried ignoring spammers during the spam storms after the xenforo switch. It worked, but there were too many, and they got banned fast enough that it wasn't worth the bother. I've never blocked a real member on any forum. Blocking shows weakness.

I agree. However, I've gotten older and just don't have the patience or willingness to prove anything anymore to anyone else or even myself. I could manually ignore people and learn to deal with those I don't like -- not just here but real-life -- but it's substantially easier to pretend they don't exist and it makes me happy. So I'm going to do it!

Seriously, I'm living on a farm or in the woods if I ever get rich.
