back when I wored at target, some guy came in, tried to pay with a check...the only problem was that he was completely illiterate. He was looking around at all our printed signs, trying to find the word 'target' so he could copy it onto the check...only he couldn't tell which word was 'target'...I finally had to point out the word to him, and basically walk him through it. He was guessing that it was spelled "tagar". How'd he get a checking account?!
Now, if he had been really old, I could understand him not knowing how to read and write, since waaaaaay back in the day, that wasn't too big of a deal. But this guy was no older than 45. Seriously, people...how can you be that uneducated, in the middle of upper-middle-class suburbia, and expect to survive?
