From reading this thread I would highly recommend you going to the hospital and getting a PROFESSIONAL ro help you remove the staples. You can't really see the top of your head and you don't want anything to go wrong and bleed all over your carpet do you?

Anyone pull these things out themselves?
The 'staples' are not your carpentry type. ;)

They have little 'feet' at the end of each post which dig into the skin. You can't pull them straight out without running the risk of ripping the skin or opening the wound again. You have to crimp the top bar of the staple to get them out.

I put in about 3000 of those things when I worked as a surgical assistant. Took out thousands of them, too.

The worst was burn patients, whose skin grafts were stapled on. Easily run through 10 or 15 staplers on one badly burned patient.

Yeah, I really can't see them all that well...don't really want to do this by "feel." :Q I'll go to the clinic tomorrow. THanks.

Unless, I can get my hands on that thing that Roger suggests...then I can just take the entire top of my skull off and not have to worry about the staples. ;)

"Staples? We don't need no stinkin' staples! "

Hey Mike, it looks like someone has already tried ! :)

(Now you know why I won't use that Avatar, it looks too much like me) ;)

Never had the need to pull staples out of my head, I bet it's gonna hurt like crazy though! :D

That said, I did have a couple bolts in my head that had tongs attached to them for the purpose of traction. Only hurt after one of the entry points became infected, it hurt like hell.

I TRIED TO BEFORE, but I just didn't have enough strength to do it. I had a doctor use some tool, I think it was a pliers to take it out.

I have removed my own stiches before, but never had the privelege of getting hurt bad enough to get stapled. If they gave you the tool, and your GF is a nurse, go for it! just make sure you have some sterile bandages ready because when removed those are gonna bleed.

And Roger, let your guys do the work. The only cuts and lacerations you should be gettting are paper cuts ;)

The staples are officially gone. Had them pulled out this morning. :) I'm not picking up those radio signals in my head anymore...so the world is a little quieter today than it's been lately.;)

It felt WEIRD when they pulled them out; I could feel the prongs being pulled thru my skin...it was ICKY. :p

Hey! It's a LOT thin...get it right, dammit. ;)

I'm not too worried about it; when I go bald, I'll still be good looking. :D

Please don't take them out by yourself. If you're determined to, I can send you a staple remover in the mail. Send me a PM with your address.

Once again, you avitar fits you MichaelD
