There is a whole world of things not generally known by the public at large. People who drive trucks, work as Mill might be able to are just like everyone else. There are others though who shall we say live interesting lives, and they don't talk about it. It's just not done.

There is no disgrace in being part of the service industry in Iraq, however it seems that this fellow is enjoying displaying his situation more than would be expected. If he is involved in any sensitive matter, then he is an idiot for talking about it at all. You keep your mouth shut and do your job. In fact you are paid to shut up.

Heh, i guess your an expert, but you probably cant tell us.

Do you believe everything people tell you?
Its my job to be able to read people. I have no doubts that he was telling me the truth.
I've known people who have gone here and there doing interesting things. None of them would tell you about it though. Perhaps your fellow runs a Halliburton lunch truck?
I have quite a few people that are in Iraq that tell me about it. One is my brother so I guess that doesn't count but I don't see why there should be doubt.
Most things are not sensitive. I don't see where he said anything he shouldn't have. You are not paid to shut up.

I agree that people need to be careful what they say due to the general public being clueless and reactionary.

Yes there are things the general public is not supposed to know about. I have a few in my mind as I'm sure my brother does since he leads an "interesting life" but I don't see anything in this thread of that nature.

I wouldn't be jumping at the very first chance to ship out if I just got married.

It's YOUR job to read people? To better sell GPS systems?

I also sell $7000 plasma TV's and $10k worth of appliances.

Maybe thats why I get along so well with police officers. We both have to deal with all types of people, and have to learn how to read them.

Perhaps, but I hope you realize the reading we do is a lot different than the reading you do, and it's done for totally different reasons.

Are good salesmen constantly under the thread of being assaulted and/or killed, and thus need to read whether or not people are a threat and whether or not they're lying/hiding something? Perhaps my perception of the world of retail is a bit cloudy. Why don't those guys wear body armor and carry firearms!?

I'm not saying he shouldn't go, just that he will be deployed when needed and not to be too overeager to leave.

I said for different reasons....but yes the ability to detect a line of BS is there for all successful salesmen.

I'm not trying to demean your job.....of course there are more dangerous variables.

Ah, good old canadian bashing... what better way to make oneself feel less pitiful? Your penis must be tinier than your brain. I hardly thought it possible.
