Ever hum at something that hums?

You know like a noisy electromagnetic ballast, vacuum cleaner, even the noise of tires over the screen part of a drawbridge.

Always tune up, down a little louder but not enough to drown it out. The harmonics you hear sound wonderful! :awe:

If you've never tried it, do it and see what you've been missing! 😀

yes! it's a very strange feeling when you become in tune with the machine.

Exactly - centrifugal chillers are loud enough that one can do this and make their tongue tingle like there's an external stimulus (electrical) happening!

Are you implying that you hum along to anything that vibrates?

Kind of hard to hum at 11.5 Hz but one can just hug a pole if they're so inclined and let nature do the rest. 😱

i like to hum when i think people shouldn't be able to hear me, such as when there's a lot of background noise, or enough to hide me humming softly

also i greatly dislike the loud blatant hum given off by vacuums and blenders and stuffs 🙁

Vacuum motors are universal type with very high RPM and are ideal to hum with producing a very nice harmony. You can block the end of the hose unloading the motor and raising its pitch higher too. 😎

Blenders on frappe setting (with nothing on top) also work well.

A washer motor minus the washer is also very nice!

I've done it and it indeed feels odd.

What's also fun is trying to reproduce the sound of an electronic device. Like if a phone rings I will then make the sound right after.

I've been hearing this annoying hum for the last few hours. Couldn't figure out what the hell it was, but DAMN in was annoying.

Turns out my wife was talking to me.

Those little noisemakers in greeting cards are fun to toss in the air while beeping. You can easily hear the doppler shift. 😎
