Curious to see if any cars have got anything other than the usual 115-120 MPH governor, which AFAIK is only set as such because of the tire rating...

My speed 6 is "electronically limited" to 149MPH...too bad because it would do a bit better than that.

I'd love to take it out on a deserted airport runway or something where I could see what it would do. Also, I'll probably get a tuner at some point, not sure if they have the ability to disable such limiters...

The Mustang is not limited...

No gov on the 88 Firebird, havent taken it past 120 though, the thought of the ticket and car car taken away from me makes me take the foot off the pedal, even though I still want to see how much faster it will go.

i sat in an M5 and it went beyond 125... and was climbing up FAST, so i think that has a limit of 155.

Whoaaaa, did some digging around, NissanClub.com sez my Altima has the governor at 145 MPH, because the tires are only rated to 149 MPH.

:D don't think I'll ever be hitting that

No idea if my old '90 Buick Skylark had one, but I got it up to 110-115 once on the highway at night, figured it just wouldn't go any faster than that :)....I did have my '84 Toyota half-ton longbed (with a wooden bed no less) up past 95 once, and then stuff started rattling and something fell off o.o...not sure what, some sort of bracket, but I figured it was fast enough.

My VW has a limiter set to 135. If you get your ECU flashed it gets removed though :).

BTW - Most German cars are limited to 155mph.

My corolla stops accelerating at about ~110 and i did not want to try more. My tires are rated up to 108.

You may have been close, but they are limited to 155mph. I hope that wasn't on a public road...

Not sure about all cars, but MOST BMW's can be "re-chipped" which will eliminate that "speed limiter", and allow you to go faster than the factory had you limited to. Of course, it also changes things like fuel mapping, timing, and several other critical engine parameters, and to get the maximum benefit from the performance boost that the chip is made for, you have to use premium gas.

It has to be more than 150 on the coupe. The sedan has 155mph (as told by the service technician when I took my sedan in for service). He was telling me on how one of his customers gave him a picture of the speedometer at ~155mph and he has that pic in his office.

Yep...my BMW was limited at 155. I chipped it, and now it has no more limiter. I haven't been above 120 in it though.
Trans Am = no limiter. I got up to 140 in that car once, probably wouldn't do that again.
