Ever had a lucid dream? Don't believe they exist? Post here :)

Anyone here ever had lucid dreams? The idea of a lucid dream (a dream which you have conscious control over) really interests me. In fact, I think I may have had a few, but I'm not really sure.

Sometimes at college I'll end up falling asleep in class (which I'm sure some of you do, too 😉), and sometimes I'll dream. These dreams often have a really strange "unrealness" about them... not the same as regular dreams.

For example, the colors in the dream will just explode, and the depth of the image really pops out, where as most of the time it's rather... "flat". Everything becomes razor sharp, much more so than vision in real life (Especially since I'm myopic 🙂). Sounds also become much clearer, and I even get some sense of touch, though not usually more than that. It's often at this point that I "lose" the dream and lose vision entirely, although I'm still have random thoughts for a few minutes, after which I usually wake up.

From what I've read of lucid dreaming, the vision-exploding thing is a quality associated with lucid dreaming, yet apparently the dreamer becomes self-aware during the dream. This hasn't happened to me. It's still like I'm watching the script unfold, although I seemingly have control over it. I say "seemingly" cause when I wake up, the whole thing seems like an acted-out illusion - I never really had any control at all.

Aren't things supposed to seem like "real-life" when you become lucid in a dream? They don't to me, or maybe I just haven't gone all the way yet. I really have no idea 🙂 It sure doesn't feel that way to me. It still feels like the person I am in the dream, is another person. It's not really "me".. I'm not really awake or aware at all.

What I have noticed is that my dream character often says that he knows that this is a dream and that he is really sleeping in class. He also is sometimes worried about doing things in the dream, because he's afraid that my body is doing the same movements in real life. (It's happened a couple of times that I fall in a dream and suddenly wake up with a reflexive kicking motion) Lucid dreams occur because you KNOW you're dreaming. But the thing is, even when my dream character talks like that, it still feels like a character. Even if I'm looking out of his eyes, it's like I'm just watching and taking in the sights 🙂 The really strange thing is that this only happens when I fall asleep in class!

Just today, that "lucid" quality emerged and the whole dream suddenly changed, and I sort of realized things were "different". But I was still following the script 🙂 I was in a futuristic looking city, when I came to a long bridge over the river. I walked for a couple hundred feet, then decided to look back and take in the view of the city, because I was wondering how it would look. I was expecting towering buildings but was surprised. After that I didn't want to walk anymore, so I tried to "create" a motorcycle (you're supposed to be able to create things in lucid dreams right?) Well that didn't work 🙂 But a few seconds later, all these guys on motorcycles zoomed past me and one of the guys gave me a motorcycle. Except it was really a bicycle. So I was like "wtf".. but when I started pedeling I was going like 100 M.P.H. Messed up...

Okay, that's enough ranting 🙂 So has anyone else here had a lucid dream before? What was it like? Do you often have lucid dreams? I wanna hear all about it 🙂

I had a lucid dream once; it was a pretty interesting experience.

I was in the middle of the dream, when all of the sudden I realized that I was dreaming. It was really strange to actually experience the different ways that a dream changes, instead of just remembering bits and peices after waking up. If I got bored with a certain "topic", I would just walk away and into another dream. I couldn't really control the situations I was in, but I was able to "reply" certain parts of it if they didn't turn out the way I wanted it to.

The most interesting part, though, was where everything started to fade to black, and I got disappointed and figured that I was waking up. Then it faded back into bright sunlight, and I was climbing up the side of the USX Tower (the tallest building in Pittsburgh). I'm normally terrified of heights, but when I reached the top I said to myself, "This is only a dream, I can't get hurt..." and dove off the top of the tower. It faded out again before I hit the ground, and then I found myself at work. Using the same logic, I told off one of the higher-ups who had ticked me off earlier that week. 🙂

I've never had so much fun while dreaming...

I have "LUCID" Dreams several nights a week. It's before the time that I'm all the way asleep......But hte wierd thing about my lucid dreams is that I usually just hear sounds, and don't see anyting. I'm also always by myself. & I am not conscious of my person in the dream, only the one that is almost asleep.

Sometimes it's out at sea. I hear the gulls, I hear the Water, and I'm on a boat. Usually not eerie to me.

The other ones I always try to wake myself up becuase they're so damn eerie.
it's a little wierder becuase I can't figure out if I'm dreaming or I'm awake, but in the dream I'm always in my room trying to sleep. I hear wierd stuff sometimes. And when I get scared the bed starts shaking.
And still other times, I fall asleep seeing "smoke" in the room....

but I've become convinced that that is after I already fall asleep.
Makes me feel like a budhist (Am I a butterfly dreaming of a man, or a man dreaming of being a butterfly) (Am I awake man dreaming about going to sleep, or am I asleep dreaming about trying not to dream)

I have had many. A few i was conscious I was dreaming and yet the dream went on just long enough for me to have direct almost god-like actions on the proceedings (basically it was a nightmare and I gained realization and then understood that at any point I could exit what was happening simply by wishing it). More recently I may be in a dream and then due to the circumstances I realize on the edge of consciousness that I'm dreaming. I then try to shut that part out to continue the dream but am unable to (I know I'm dreaming, but I enjoy it in this case) and so I wake up.

Hehe, cool 🙂

I did some reading on the net, and apparently the visual sense is one of the first to leave 🙁
What's strange for me though, is that it doesn't even fade to "black", cause black is still a perception of color... rather, it fades to what I can only describe as "null", sort of like black/gray but not really. I was still able to hear and touch though 🙂

At one of the sites it says if you spin in a lucid dream, you may be able to keep it from fading away. That's cool, gonna try that tonight (or next time!) 🙂

Why are you still a "member"?

Don't know. Bug in the forum software? Or maybe the mods don't like me 😉

<< rather, it fades to what I can only describe as "null" >>

Actually, that's a much better way of describing it. It's more like "nothingness" than black.

i had one once. two words: "girls lockerroom"

it was NICE!

edit: took me a while to figure out what was going on. but when i did i was like "what the hell am i doing sitting around?! lets go bang some chicks!"

Pervert 😀😛

I have lots of dreams where I am in complete control. I used to have them when I was a kid, mostly about flying around at will, but now I have them almost whenever I dream. I think it's something to do with mental discipline and control over the subconscious.

I was feeling sick about a week ago and fell asleep on the couch watching TV. SOmething about being sick- I always have weird dreams, anyway when I woke up the president was on TV and that must have been what influenced my dream.
I dreamt I was in a Cabinet meeting! and Ronald Reagan was sittingn across from me. (he was fine not senile, I was thinking he was taking his meds) SO I dreamed I was in a cabinet meeting advising the president. and it was one of the most vivd dreams in a long time.

Anyone here ever have dreams that later come true? Like deja vue'?

i can't believe you people waste lucid dreams on flying.... damn i'd be wilt chamberlain if i had them frequently enough.

Yup, quite often actually.
>>

Same here. And the more I experiment with this stuff, the more often it happens. For anyone who's interested in this, there's lots of good books out there and dozens of different techniques. The key is finding a technique that does something for you and then sticking with it. I think anyone can do it with a bit of effort, though some will need to work harder than others.

Anyone have OOBE's? Now that's something I'd love to be able to do.

Deja Vue' doesn't exist... it's a Glitch in the Matrix. THEY changed something.

I had sort of a lucid dream that I just woke up from about an hour ago...so it's still pretty clear in my head.

I remember being at some kind of concert, then there were these UFO's in the sky. If I could draw, I could draw them in explicit detail right now (and no they weren't saucers)...everyone was sitting there watching them dance all over the sky (and even coming in low)...there was a pair of them, and then someone mentioned that they just heard on the radio that their was a pair of these UFO's in every major city, but they were just flying around. I had no camera but I just "wished" I had my digi-cam with me, and suddenly it was in my hands...I then remember taking a bunch of pictures. The UFO's continued to dance around the sky everywhere, then they left (went out into space). I got home, downloaded the pics to my computer....and as i went through them I was disappointed because they were all severely blurred or not developed properly. Then I reached the last 2 pics on my memory card and they were perfect photographs of the UFO's. Then i woke up (but I remember thinking that i could sell these to a major paper or something and make a killing)
