Had a gun pointed at me by a cop last year.

I was coming back from the Texas coast with my GF and some friends. I was riding in the back and since I get car sick I tend to take a bit of a nap on long rides. Luckily I was riding in a big minivan so I sat in the back row, buckled up, and then went to sleep.

Part way back, our driver (female friend of my GF), gets pulled over for speeding. I was basically asleep, but as the cop was approaching the car I wake up and sit up. For whatever reason this made the cop go completely nuts. Draws his gun and starts screaming obscenities at me. Has me exit the vehicle, shoves me to the ground, and hand cuffs me there in the road.

Laying down in the road, with the cop standing over me with his gun pointed at me, I finally managed to say to him. "Sir, I have no idea what you think you are doing to me. I have complied with your commands, but you need to take that gun off me. I was sleeping in the back of the van when you pulled us over. I have no weapons on me and my driver's license is in my wallet in my back pocket. I respect your need to stay safe, but as you can see I am unarmed. So as soon as you decide to calm down, I am going to grab my cell phone and call both my lawyer and also get in touch with your supervisor. Unless you can articulate why you have put me on the ground without probable cause and have detained me with handcuffs with your weapon drawn then I respectfully ask you remedy this situation as soon as possible."

I said this while looking at him straight in the eye from the ground. A little difficult to do it with proper authority, but I did. I saw his butthole literally pucker up as I was talking to him. He still tried to act all gruff and assertive, but it doesn't take much to make a cop who know he is in the wrong legally speaking to backpedal real fast. All it takes is the proper responses. Just state you are going to be calling a lawyer and asking to speak with their supervisor. It gets fixed real fast.

Yes, and it was somewhat hilarious. I was riding my mountain bike back from the trails, and stopping by a gas station to get some water, and a cop rolled up and told me to freeze, getting out of his cruiser with his gun trained on me. A few seconds later a second cop tackled me off my bike from behind, cuffed me, and tossed me in the back. Apparently some short hispanic male had robbed someone at a nearby apartment complex, and fled on a bike. I am white, 6'4", and 250lbs, so how I got confused with that guy is beyond me, but we all laughed about it, several other cops showed up and made fun of the guy who tackled me. They were concerned that I might complain due to a couple scrapes, I just told them I see worse than that on the trails.

Yeah and it wasn't a pistol either. It was a large rifle with a sniper scope.

Twice. Once in Pennsylvania. Got pulled over for a broken tail light. I was talking to one cop on my driver's side when a second cop on the passenger's side of my truck noticed I had a box of pellets for the pellet gun I had at the time. He drew his gun, pointed it at me and started yelling "Where's the gun?!" multiple times. I put my hands up and told him it's just pellets and the gun is at home. It took the other cop longer than it should have to talk this dude down and got him to put his gun away. That did scare me because that cop was freakin' out. Probably a rookie.

Second time.... Some friends of mine and I were out four wheeling one Saturday night. I managed to break my truck so we towed it out of this canyon with a chain and parked it in the first residential street we came too with the intention of getting it the next day. So, Sunday evening we go back and start hooking a good tow bar up to it when all of the sudden three cop cars come screaming around a corner. They all get out with guns drawn and pointed at us yelling to get on the ground. Apparently one of the people that live there called the police telling them we were stealing the truck.

I've also been held up by a gang of 6 people that had multiple weapons, including two firearms; a revolver and small rifle. Witnesses called that in as a gang war. That was the day I learned that the old saying about how when seconds count, the police are minutes away..... Is absolutely true. And, when the shit hits the fan, you have no one to count on but yourself.

Sounds familiar. About 25 years ago, I tore up my knee playing softball. As I was driving home, through a really seedy part of Pompano Beach, Fla., I notice about 10 cop cars go flying by me in the other direction. Typical Friday night, except the day before a cop was murdered not a mile or so from where I was. All of a sudden I see them make a giant uturn and head my way. No big deal, except they pull all around my car and force me off the road. The loudspeaker comes on and I have to gimp out of the car. 2 cops come over and slam my ass face down on the ground. Now 8 police officers are training their guns on me. Apparently a bodega was robbed just a few minutes before I came around and the dude was driving the exact model and color car I was. After ascertaining my caucasity and questioning me about why I was so dirty and limping, they let me go. These guys were on a serious edge because one of their own was basically executed right in the same area.

Hmm... a couple times. Was brought in for being "suspiciously parked". Beaten up a couple of times by cops who needed to take it out on someone. Never been shot though. Running helped because we could usually tell when someone needed a body.

I just look at the rest of the body symptoms. Blood draining from face, inability to speak for a second, sometimes a bit of a stutter comes out when speaking, a quick step back, and even profuse apologizing after. All signs.

My wife (a cop) has threatened to shoot me on many occasions, but I am not scared. She is a terrible shot.

yeah, wondered into the path of a cop as they were looking for someone who ran from a high speed chase. Cop and I surprised each other, as I was scared shitless while his weapon was briefly pointed at me. Once he realized I wasn't who we was looking for he apologized and split.

I never interacted with law enforcement, just border guards telling me to carry on with a gesture while in intense conversation.
No one kills cop here so they aren't on edge. The only homicide last year in my state was a coniugal homicide-suicide in bed.

Nope never had a gun drawn on me regardless of who / situation.

However one time I was with a friend who was driving kinda quick (we were in HS). Well some cop nailed him and he pulled over, but the cop never got out of the car. So we just sit there and we see a 2nd cop round the corner and park behind the first cop car. I just looked at him and was like "is there something you didn't tell me?". A few minutes later a 3rd cop car pulls up.

At this point we're both like WTF... the cop comes up with a bag of weed and says he saw my friend throw it out the window (we didn't have any of that stuff). We just denied it and said we didn't do anything like that. The cop asked if he could search our stuff and we said go for it (it was a relatively new car and we had small bags). Cop didn't even waste his time because he could probably tell we were just stupid kids but not gang bangers. Just took ID / insurance.

So the cop disappears and comes back with a huge ticket of reckless driving (huge in the fact it was like $300+). My friend ended up getting points and everything even after appearing for the ticket. He was driving pretty quick (not exactly speeding but maneuvering) but nothing outrageous, the cop probably just looked like a moron and took it out on him.

No never. Come to think of it, I've never really been in trouble with cops, other than a few traffic related tickets that were my fault. Cops here use their gun as last resort though so you'd have to do something pretty bad to have them even take it out. I know a few cops, and they often go at the range to keep sharp, and it's the only time they ever actually get to fire their gun.

No, but had a 12 gauge tactical shotgun pointed at me by a young member of the Marine Corps, back when I was on the ship.

Due to special weapons that I could neither confirm nor deny the presence of, onboard the ship, we had a contingent of Marines on board. Their OIC, a Marine captain, would occasionally run a timed response drill on them, to see how long it took them to react to an alarm down in the ships armory, which was down below the bomb assembly area......which just happened to have the mess deck scullery (where you return dirty dishes & silverware) on either side of that area. These young Marines never knew if it was a drill, or the real thing, though.

I was standing in line, behind 2 other guys, to turn my dishes in, when I heard, behind me, "EVERYONE HIT THE DECK!!!" My first thought being, basically, "WTF??", I turned around, and there were our Marines, in the middle of one of their drills, and one of them had a loaded shotgun pointed right at us! D:

Let me tell you.....when the business end of a 12 gauge shotgun is pointed in your direction, it looks big enough to fire softballs at you!!

We all had to low crawl over to where they were, out of line of sight from the armory entrance, and present our ID cards, to prove we were ship's crew, and not the bad guys. Once they were satisfied we were okay, we were let go.

There was one young fellow, who was tasked with doing maintenance down in the armory, who was oftentimes caught in the middle of these drills. More than once, I saw him being marched back down to the Marine Detachment's offices, his fingers laced behind his head, a young Marine grasping 2 of his fingers (which pretty much keeps you from doing anything stupid.....try it sometime, on one of your buddies), and a loaded, cocked 45 pistol held to the back of his head.

Marines do NOT f*ck around!!

Yes, at a graveyard from a cop out of jurisdiction. He shot some dog to death and we (as teens) approached him about it and he cocked off and pointed his pistol. We weren't really aware back then like kids are today about being overly sensitive to treatment from adults.

Yes and I laughed at them. It seemed funny at the time.

In high school I drove a 1967 Mercury Cougar. One evening I had a head light take a crap on me. So, I drove to Ace Hardware and bought a replacement headlight. On those old cars you had to replace the entire light which took tools so you could not do it in the parking lot.

Driving home I was stopped by not one but two deputy sheriff cars. I stopped immediately and they did not approach my car. Instead, they (4 deputies) stood behind their car doors and pointed guns at me, told me to go out of the car and get on my knees. I wasn't aware there were guns involved until I got out of the car and turned to face them, that's when I saw. I was 16 years old. Never been in trouble my entire life (ok, I had a parking ticket which I paid the day I got it). I couldn't help it, I just laughed at them. I did as instructed but I just kept laughing. Finally one of them walked up and handcuffed me then stood me up.

He said to me, and I am not joking, we stopped you because your head light was out. It took 4 men with guns and handcuffs to tell me that. I told the guy this was the most ridiculous thing I had ever seen. Then, they wanted to write me a ticket. I have the receipt for the new light in my hand and the new light sitting on the passenger seat in the car.

I was told I was lucky and next time they wouldn't be lenient. I thought, what does that mean? Next time, are you going to shoot me.

Yes, about 10 of them actually 3-4 with shotguns too.

Years ago I went to a concert with a buddy, we parked the car which was his and went to the concert. When we got out the car was gone, he immediately called the police and reported it stolen.

We waited around downtown a bit and ended up in a bar for a few hours and when we were there we saw a few cars being towed for parking violations it occurred to us maybe his car was towed not stolen. Sure enough when we called the tow company they had his car. Se we went to pick it up and paid the tow and were driving home when it all hit the fan.

We are waiting at a stop light its about 3AM now we are the only car on the road. Out of nowhere at least 6 police cars come flying out of nowhere and surround us to the point there isn't a foot of room infront or behind the car, and then they all jump out of there cars take cover behind them and draw their weapons on us and start yelling to slowly get out of the car and put our hands up and get on the ground.

I just looked at my buddy and said I guess you forgot to call the cops and let them know it wasn't stolen eh. And then I got out very slowly and very slowly got on the ground with my hands behind my head. To the cops credit they didn't rough me up to bad cuffing me or throwing me in the back of the car.

Although they didn't believe us on scene and took us back to the station and then they let us go about a hour later, after they had the car impounded, to the same tow company yard lol.

When I was about 17, several cop cars suddenly pulled in around mine and blocked me in. Then several officers approached the car with weapons drawn. It was fairly intense.

It was about 10 at night and I was driving a friend home. We having a fairly interesting discussion and were almost at his house. Wishing to continue the conversation for another 10 minutes, I pulled into the parking lot of the park next to his house. The cops arrived almost immediately. Apparently they were expecting a drug deal to go down in that spot at that time.
