Yeah, she cooks for you too; doesn't she? And to top that for an ungrateful boy, she has to clean the crap you make ... and you come whining about it on the forum. You couldn't help with a mess in the sink. Yes, it angers me when I hear or read men ... boys, that is, talk like that, much less the "thought" of slapping her. *Fuming!* You could have kept the thought to yourself ... that's always an option for someone concerned about thought police.

I'm thinking about slapping you.

same here

she;s gonna have all of you arrested!!! quick! to mexico!

:D
She should be cleaning stuff up instead of running her mouth on the internet. Hopefully when her SO gets home he kicks her off the pc and puts the smack down.

I wish I was at home. i have a pic of "Woman don't belong on the internet! Back in the Kitchen with you!". LOLz...

and to answer the OP, of course. Just as long as you don't act on it, you're okay.

I read the fvcking post QBM. The subject line might as well be, "Ever had the urge to cut someone's head off?" and then saying, "Well, I have, but I'm not going to do it. Guess I just needed to post about it."

WTF is about all I have to say to that. Go ahead, defend him. Ridiculous.

So why don't you post something like this in every other rant thread where someone feels like killing the guy who cut him off in traffic, or wants to backhand the idiot who can't use a cash register at Staples?

There's a difference between getting angry and actually beating/killing someone. Are you unable to make that distinction?

Certain issues stand out a *little* more than others. Do you at least agree with me on that?

You know what - if you can't own up to the fact that your OP is ill-advised AT BEST, I'm done here anyway.

I've witnessed violence in the home FIRST HAND so forgive me if I'm not "down" with someone asking other members if they ever "really wanted to slap their SO".

How is my post ill-advised? To be ill-advised means to be done without thought or consideration beforehand. Maybe if I was running for office, I could see how this would be ill-advised, as posting it would have an adverse effect on me, but I'm not running for office. What's the problem with this thread?

Are you saying I shouldn't have posted it becuase you disagree with me?

What exactly do you even disagree with me about? You're actually offended by something I *thought* about for an instant while I was angry this morning? Something that, as you can see from many of the replies in this thread, is pretty commonly thought about.

I really don't care what goes through your head. When you post about it here, you can fully fvcking expect to get my 0.02 on whatever the hell you're "ranting" about.

If you can't see how your post would offend someone - ANYONE - you are an idiot.

And if you need to use replies in this thread to justify your little urges, well...

Ok, so I heard your two cents then - you think I should go see a psychiatrist because a thought ran through my head for a second or two.

You also think that getting drunk and getting in bar fights is a better way to let off steam than posting on an internet forum about it, so I'll take your two cents with a grain of salt, thanks.

There's been a number of times where I wanted to just "shut the girl up"...not necessarily out of anger, but out of frustration. Of course, I'd never do that because I've found ways to release pent-up frustration or anger (lifting weights or heavy drinking)...

Best advice I can give it to just let it go...the less you seem to care about an arguement the better in the LT.
i don't know if anyone claimed he did it. but some of us are saying, "no, we wouldn't do it or even think of doing it."

QFT.

Let this be a lesson to all who intend on making slightly personal threads on ATOT... do so only with the knowledge that meltdown75 will barge in with soapbox in hand, and start preaching his self-righteous inflammatory "two cents" with the aid of his distorted view of reality and inability to grasp simple concepts dealing with human nature.

You have been warned.

when it comes to implications of physical violence against women i see nothing wrong with a man coming out strongly against it like meltdown75 did.

Fair enough. For the record, I said "if I wanted to throw some knuckles" that's what I would do. I can honestly say that I no longer get the urge to fist fight anymore, because I've been in a few and I learned the hard way that there's always a better solution. A little thing some might refer to as "growing up".

By the way, it takes longer than "a second or two" to think about something, reflect on it, craft up a nice little post about it, and click the 'post' button. But who's counting, right?

Meh... it's just a vent. Some people will say anything whether they mean it or not when just ranting. That's all it is, though; it's just a rant.

Now if someone actually acts on it, that's something different.

Oh I can't disagree with you there, and if he had approached the topic with more common sense and less patronizing arrogance, I would've agreed with him to some extent.

yeh, true, but with the thought... can the act be fair behind?

sometimes not.

If I tell you I'm gay, would you be more receptive to an invitation to a pajama party at my house for the weekend for just you and me?

Talk about the fvcking overreactions in this thread because of a simple thought.

Especially since coming onto a message board helped him vent, instead of him continually bottling it up inside, finally snapping, and beating the sh!t out of his wife because he went crazy.

Since when is venting a bad thing?

Yes, it can. I've ranted about a lot of stuff on AT with my thoughts of murderous rage. Would I ever do it? Of friggin course not. It's just letting out steam.

Now, one can theorize that if one considers violence in ranting, that they're more inclined to carry it out than someone who doesn't immediately think of violence when emotionally distraught.

However, until someone does something about it, it's still just a fleeting ranting.

I've thought about throwing my former boss into the pizza oven while he's inside a giant pizza.

I don't think I'll ever come close to doing something like that.

Sometimes all words are, are words.

Just needed to vent, I guess.

All I do is watch a marathon of cops...enough people bitch slapping their SO's to make anyone feel better;)

There is actually a LARGE gap between thought and physical application. Obviously this gap narrows significantly when the person is mentally unstable, or has temper issues. notfred shows absolutely no signs of temper issues or mental instability, rather he is displaying a very common human emotion that humans have come to understand as frustration. The mental processes that are implemented to relieve this frustration are the brief thoughts of causing harm to the source of the frustration. From here there is a GREAT leap to actually following through on physical action, the odds of which call upon a dynamic set of definitions of principles, morals and mental stability.

just ask her, "what do you say to a woman with two black eyes?".... She'll get the picture.
