Ever get that urge to buy a random, useless gadget?

It happens to me all the time. And as tech enthusiasts, I'm betting it happens to the rest of you rather commonly as well.

The latest useless piece of technology that I got a split-second urge to buy was the Eee Keyboard. It's a pretty cool concept, but completely useless in practicality - too expensive / underpowered to be a good office machine, and too short battery life / needs a monitor to be portable. I guess the urge stems from growing up around computers and technology, and imagining one day that the entire computer would be built into just the screen (think iMac or tablet) or just the keyboard (like this thing!)

Sadly, if this thing was $250-300 or so, I might just bite.

Yeah, too expensive at the moment. If it were cheaper, would be a nice option for the living room TV.

I always look at the clearance electronics to see if there's something cool and cheap.

The wife has purses and shoes, I have Legos and computers.

Oh, frequently. But none of that is as bad as my cell phone problem. I haven't even had the HD2 for three months and the itch to upgrade is already getting uncontrollable. Problem is, there ARE no upgrades really, so I'm even considering downgrading just to have something different.

For me, that's the iPad and I have almost bought one on impulse on more than one occasion. For me, its not a useful device, but it looks pretty cool.

Thankfully, trying one at the Apple store talked me down. I really wasn't impressed. I might pick up an iMac instead.

lol, you should see someone about that addiction. Either that or get a badge for being a true gadget nerd!

I've been fighting the urge to buy a camera that I know will never get used. And now that the prices of e-readers have dropped, I'm going to have a very hard time saying no to the new $150 Nook. I think I know in my heart that it won't get used all that much, but I do like to read enough that I may just get some good use out of it. More than a camera anyway.

I thought that EEE Keyboard might be useful for troubleshooting and such. Taking that to say friend's house to fix their computers could be simplified by this. It has monitor ports, bunch of USB, and some others I can't remember.

The biggest problem is that the keyboard is likely more expensive than some computers sold today.

I'm always looking for my "perfect" laptop even though I have 3 of them and I only use one 99% of the time.

I have this problem bad. Last purchases: iPad, Harmony One remote.

I've probably owned 7-8 smartphones this year and I don't see any signs of stopping either. I need help. :(

I haven't had this problem in some time, although after using a friend's Kindle, I'm starting to think I want one. This despite not being much of a reader myself. I'm actually trying to justify it by saying I'll read more if I get one, which isn't necessarily true (sort of like saying you'll exercise more if you buy a gym membership).
