Ever filled up your gas tank then discovered you had no money?

As long as my credit card works, I'm good. If I have to pay with cash, I'd be screwed.

yeah, I left my wallet at home too.

she asked if I had any ID.....no, it's in my wallet....

she took my name, address & number as well as license plate and told me to come back by 3pm.
She was very nice about it, but it was kinda embarrasing 😱
 
I have done it a couple times because I forgot my wallet. I was regular customer there, so I gave them an IOU and paid the next day.
 
I normally pay at pump too so I don't have to think about it, but this place did not have that on the diesel pump.....
 
The station that used to be Texaco, which is now Shell near where I used to live would give you free gas if your car was completely out of gas and you didn't have any money. They would just get your name and address and have you come back and pay later.
 
I know the feeling. I once did it while out of state too...I was trying to make it home from Maine (over 1200 miles away) and ran out in NC. I tried to bartar with a silver coin I had (was worth like $20) but they let me go because I looked homeless at this point, lol.
 
It happens, if you go in and talk to them, they will just take your info down and let you come back later.

Just don't drive off, then you've commited a crime. Here in Texas, the Police can now seize your car if you fuel up and drive off without paying.

In Georgia, they can take your driver's license for six months if you're convicted of two or more drive-offs.
 
Sounds like someone needsspeedpass. I have had one for 2 years now and it has saved my rear twice. Both times I forgot my wallet and need gas BADLY. Since it is on my keyring and I can't drive without said keyring - I can ALWAYS pay for gas (when at a speedpass - accepting station [EXXON, MOBIL]) anyway!
 
I did once in high school. I stopped for gas thinking I had a $20 in my wallet, and it turns out that I didn't have any money at all. I left the lady my wallet except for my DL, ran home and grabbed a $20, and went back and paid. I felt like such a doofus. Now that I have a CC, I pay at the pump.

I also found out the hard way that most fast food places don't take CC's when I was in college. I stopped to get dinner at Long John's, and I had NO cash at all. They ended up just giving me the food and telling me to have a good night. Again, I felt like a huge tool.
