Interesting article. I always thought Nixon was some kind of hardcore conservative weirdo, but in this article he sounds like a pretty reasonable guy when it comes to politics.
the article paints him strangely. in terms of international politics, he was a realist for sure. that's more "conservative" than someone like bush, who ascribed to the liberal ideal of democratic peace theory.
that article is wierd overall. it mentions how we supported iran against the soviets (mentioning how cheney would be appalled), but fails to mention that that was prior to the iranian revolution. IE, shah of iran time.
also talks about how reagan raised taxes in 1986, but doesnt state it right. he raised tax revenues by passing the 1986 tax reform act. it lowered taxes and broadened the tax base... that's not the same as "raising taxes". in fact, it's very far from it.
there's alot of other half-truths throughout the article. when i see shit like that, i tend to ignore the rest of the contents.
