And again for the new players, be aware that there is an extremely big learning curve, and I am glad that you took the time to read up on the game with this thread. The other thing to remember is that it will take some time for you to the skills needed to do some things, and sometimes the best approach is to be patient, and don't just rush into a battleship. While you can get the skills required to pilot one in a week or so, you won't have the skills to really fit it properly to make it anything but a big target in space for a few months. Heck, at 8 months, I still don't feel comfortable flying them.

I also just started a second account recently which I can pay for with in-game isk, via plex. I am working on training a PI/miner for some semi-afk mining while I am using my main character.

Speaking of which, anyone here do PI and/or know some good guides?

I do PI everyday, as I need to do it for my POSes. That said, the guides out aren't the greatest. None of them really tell you the most efficient way to set up, but they will get you started at least. If you train all the PI skills to 4, you should be able to make any of the two mineral parts at a rate of 10/hour.

To do this, pick a planet that has both mineral that you need, and place a command center on it (advanced will be good enough, and with the new patch, the step below it might even work). Next, leave system and get safe (since you are probably going to do this in low sec, whcih is the easiest way to get PI parts relatively safe). Open up the Science and Industry Tab, click the planets tab, then double click on your planet. From here you need to scan the planet. actually, since I am realizing how involved this is, I am just going to link you a guide.

That isn't the one I used to start, but a quick google search didn't bring it up. But the eve-uni one will probably suffice. If I find the awesome chart one I used, I will link it.

EDIT: I found it: http://www.hst-soft.de/korai/Eve_PI_Diagrams_v1_4.pdf

Thanks Martimus. Yeah, I plan on doing this in W-Space. I'm still a while out on the skills but getting there (I at least have all but Advanced Planetology (or whatever it is) injected on the character).

L4..and L5 in a gang...

To tired of neutral RR destroying PvP(Damn killsboards are to blame for that)...and we have some new fresh meatbags in ou corp that need to learn the ropes, so I "babysit" L4 runners a lot these days.

Where do you mission. I need to suicide gank you.

So anyone have a corp I could join? Was trying to get into Eve University, but they turned me down because my account is really old (I started it up for a few months 2 or 3 years ago and stopped till now). I can figure out mechanics through reading/experimenting, but finding groups is a bit of a daunting task. So far I've just been missioning. I'm in a harbringer right now, and could fly a BS reasonable well if I had the money for it, which I'll have in a few days or so. Planning on getting into PvP and maybe exploration once I get a solid income available through missioning and refine my BS skills a bit further.

You are welcome to join my corp if you are interested. We are a PvP centered corp, and a harbi is a good ship to have for roams. Just message me in game at "Martimus28", and give me your limited API so I can check for alts, or obviously strange skills for a main character.

You can look at the link in my signature for our killboard, if you want to see what we do. We have about 5 Anandtech members in the corp right now as well. (Acanthus,JStorm, Michael, Me, and Ichy)

To bad we arent super organized over here at anandtech. We could have a mini goonswarm type situation on our hands.

Here's another question for the crowd. Does anybody use regular assault ships for anything? HACs seem to be popular with those who can afford to use them for PvP, but it's very rare to see an assault frigate, especially a Caldari one.
