Evangelion anime dvd boxset $127.49

Eva Box Set

for those who are into anime, this is pretty good for the boxset. That's 8 DVD's for about $15 each. Also this is a pre-order, doesn't come out until April 9th.

Do a search on ebay

You can probably get a new subtitled Hong Kong set for $30 - $40 (no English audio)

I did some anime shopping over there a couple months ago and got a bunch of box sets for $10 - $15. And BTW these are not bootlegs, they're actually legit Hong Kong market disks (with Chinese and not so good English subtitles).

sorry about that. i got excited and didn't know if you just hit return it posts
ebichu is CRAZY! i only got four eps--are there any more?

Why would you even bother paying so much at Planet Anime when you can get the set for $110.00 from digitaleyes.com or go through amazon with share the love and a coupon (if it is still available) for like $90.00 shipped???

<< they're actually legit Hong Kong market disks >>

No they're not. Unless you bought My Neighbor Totoro... It's probly not legal.

Or, Kiki's delivery service, or Jin Roh... They probly arn't legal HK Anime DVD's.

They do look real though, packaging can be same or even better than officals.

u can get it for around 90$ at amazon including shipping:

110$ - Free shipping - 10% (share the love) - 10$/75$ (exp 31/3/02) coupon = 89$

Best of all..... my box is on its way!! 😛

Well, trust me...I had a native HK anime otaku taking me around. I got some of both, and it's usually pretty obvious from the package...but the difference is even more obvious when playing the discs. 😉 (Of course, I guess there's no way to tell on Ebay.) Live action movies are a whole 'nother story, but I got all my live action stuff on the mainland since it's cheaper (but they didn't have much anime).

Unfortunately, they don't have nearly as much current stuff as in Tokyo. I was over there just before I went to HK, and I made a list up of new stuff that I wanted to look for in HK. They didn't have half the discs I wanted. I guess I'll have to wait until next time.

And yes, the subs are very much not so very godd of the Englis. But they fill in the gaps for me when I don't pick up everything in Japanese (and you don't get any Engrish at all on Japanese discs).

in Hong Kong,
anime on DVD are mostly pirate, dubbed from LD, added chinese subtitle.
anime on VCD are half pirate - dubbed from LD too, half legit - mostly with cantonese/japanese dialog using L and R audio channel.

Yeah, there aren't more than a few DVD's put out by the real company. Most of them are as said above.

King of Comedy? = your name? haha

I'm pretty sure the only legit HK anime DVDs are the ones that also dubbed in contonese or Mandrain. All the ones with just subtitles are either straight US anime DVD rips or mostly from laser disc. There english subtitles are getting better, but some really sucks,, example: Gundam 0083 stardust memories OAV eps, The movie on the other hand is done pretty well.., . Their chinese subs are very well done, and they are really cheap.... I guess it's all depends on how much you want to pay.. . As for the EVA boxset,, it rules for $90, can't wait to rewatch it all over and get piss off again,, luckly this time I already have the 2 movies so I'm set... . Thanx for the info on the amazon thingie

Here's a great site to see whether or not the HK anime sets you buy have good sub-titles or really bad engrish ones.

http://www.import-anime.com

Some sets like Lain are extremely high quality almost up to par w/ the legit DVD releases. I always buy HK anime sets when they're good quality....saves a fourtune!

I can't comment on HK DVD's in general, but I did buy an HK Evangelion Movie double sided DVD from someone on Ebay. I thought it was legit, but (silly me) it was not. The region 0 DVD had a big line across the top (when played on a computer), the audio sync was way off (when played anywhere), the "Dolby Digital 5.1" encoding was just stereo encoded in a 5.1 signal, and the picture quality was horrible (not to mention the subtitles). But hey, I got the Evangelion movies two years before the American release date (which has been pushed back to Summer of this year, I think). I think I paid $20, so it wasn't a bad deal.
To comment on this deal, I bought each DVD as they came out. Now they're bringing out a boxed set, with a re-mastered first disc, and a re-done second disc insert. I'm debating wether or not to go to rightstuf and buy the pieces I'm missing.

could someone share the love with me too? 🙂 and pm me a link to the 10$ off coupon too? ive only watched the first three eps in low quality .rm, i cant wait to actually watch it in its full blown glory as it was intended to be seen! 🙂
