What's worse is that she drags down the 12 Stones singer too. I like 12 Stones so far. I've only heard "The Way I Feel" and "Crash". And he sounds nothing like he does on that Evanescence song.

I hate to say it, but I predict that 12 Stones will go under just like Creed did.

Yeah, probably so. Who knows. Just depends on how big that ego gets.

They've given me two good songs. If there aren't any more, oh well. :)

I originally heard "Broken" on a motorcycle video that was posted on here awhile back.

I love evanescence.

Maybe the song is played so much because *gasp* people like it and it's a good song.

I think anyone that doesn't like them either hasn't heard their album, or is upset because they are sucessful.
Either way, if you don't like it, whining to us doesn't help, email their record company and tell them how you feel and hope they reduce their PR/advertising budget for them.

Oh, and finally, if you are going to say a band sucks, give a more valid reason than "because their name sounds like bottled water" and "It's been 30 seconds since I last heard the song"

Thanks.

What annoys me about the band is they are not doing anything new. To me, there's nothing memorable about the music, no hooks, just heavy slush.

Imho Evanescence is trying to be too much, sounding like Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, etc. all rolled into one.

I think each of the above artists are excellent in their own right, but to me the whole does not appear to be greater than the sum of its parts.

Not to worry, Evanescence will gradually fade away, as will Avril Lavigne, Five Pence None the Richer, Nickelback and all that other unoriginal crap out there.

I don't think they suck. They're ok. A little too much on the demonic side, though.
"My Immortal" is sad.

a) If they aren't doing anything new, then how come you have to compare them to a multitude of bands that have nothing in common. and for reference, limp bizkit is washed up and old news. No one deserves to be compared to them because they weren't good and did nothing besides talk tough.

b) They aren't "Trying to be too much" They are giving their own style out and people are accepting it. They aren't "Trying" at anything.

People can't have opinions on music? I've heard a good deal of the CD, but I still think it sucks. She is Brittany Spears for the gothic people. There is no substance, just crappy watered down songs made to make money. No, I'm not upset they are sucessful. I just think it sucks the fattest one you can imagine.

I just gave the whole album a good listen and I think their style is pretty good. I like the sound. Comments like "Imho Evanescence is trying to be too much, sounding like Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, etc. all rolled into one" baffle me. So what - you can name a few singers/bands they sound like, it still makes them unique, sounding the way they do by themselves. Who said they were trying to be anyone ?

Call it marketing/hype/excessive radio play/whatever... they're certified double platinum and that's not easy to do these days with all the bands sounding alike. There must be something special about them that makes people actually buy the whole album, am I wrong ?

I think it's just the in-thing to do - bashing the mainstream stuff... give the album a listen if you care enough to, instead of saying "they suck, it gets played too often". If you still hate it, good for you, it still doesn't mean they suck. You simply don't like their style. It was the same argument for St. Anger.

The sad thing is that low talent flash in the pan bands like this get monster airplay while bands like Iron Maiden are putting out groundbreaking, relevant music and they get virtually ignored by radio.

A far better band (if you're into the whole semi-goth-metal-female-vocalist thing) IMHO.

My roommate likes them (Tapping the Vein).. she plays them quite a bit. That lead singer chick scares me! ;)

i can't listen to more then one song at a time... listening to the album straight through is like nails on chalkboard.

one can only take so much mournful wailing.

A woman singing with rock music in the background is being called wailing and whining.

Hmm... that's interesting because I can't imagine how else a female voice would sound if they didn't sound like a man.

I think it gives it an "epic" feeling... I like the style very much.

I agree with you. I cant stand them. If you want to hear some good female vocals, listen to Arch Enemy or Enya. :) BTW I cant stand Tapping the Vein either. Something about that style of singing grates on my nerves.
