that's one reason why i want to move there after college 😉

Do it, you'll love it. I wish I was still there.

There are nice cities in the US, Boston and SF are among my favorite cities, but for me too much of the things in the US are focused on "seeing" or "doing" something compared to Europe where sitting in a cafe all afternoon is a perfectly acceptable and enjoyable activity.

that's cause statistically, americans work the most hours and take the least amount of vacation time. also, what happens when you have a convenience item (cell phone, pda, etc.) to reduce your work time? fill the new free time with other $hit

That, and cos we have a better public transport system, so buying a car isn't usually the first thing on our minds 😉

I lived in Europe (Germany) for 3 years, travelled all over while I was there including Paris, Belgium, London, Italy. Personally I hated it, and I'd rather look at skyscrapers all day long than pos castles with dirt floors. And Paris was dirty as hell, smelled like dog sh!t just about everywhere, cause it was... just about everywhere. I've been to many places all over the world and there's no place like America IMO.

^--And there's your reason why American cities are all boring and identical.

I went to Prague two weeks ago, on a stag do. Can?t really say I had time to take pictures. But I recognise the pics, especially that weird clock thingy that everyone stands at waiting for it to do something.

Did you go to the SportsBar near Darlings strip club????

3 beers for 160 Corona at the SportsBar = RESULT!

I had 4 days in Prague, 5 in Munich, and 4 in London.

Incidently, I saw Naveen Andrews (actor who plays Sayid in Lost) at a restaurant near my hostel in Prague.

Great pics.

What camera did you use???.........

Ah yes, someone has come back from a Eurotrip, complete with that post Eurotrip smugness. I bet you think you're cultured now. Wrong.

Oh how I'd love to flog some of those French and British sea-shore roads with a big nasty rear wheel drive american car...
But you see, these roads have turns 😉

And a Corvette turns nicely.

Of course you have a better public transportation system. The US is 300 times larger than Belgium, making public transportation across the country much more difficult.

Americans work more hrs, have less vacation time but you get paid more relatively for the same degrees as we have.

We get more holiday, work less hrs (in general) but we get taxed a lot and get paid less.

How do we afford houses? Most don't or they bought them before in the past. Grads 3-5yrs out can't afford a 3 bed room, semi detached house.£220k+ ~ $390k+...

Nothing's wrong with me. I guess it's a US thing. You get people who go to Europe and come back with a smug attitude. They're the type who hangs out in Starbucks and talks about topics that they have no idea about, but they try to maintain that "cultured" image.

People like that used to be called "Eurotrash", although I haven't heard that used in a while.

tower

I went up on that thing when I went. It's pretty cool with a great view.

That Olympic park seems like it was a futuristic city back in the early 70's, with a futuristic design and cool buildings. But now it's run down, so it has a very eerie feel about it. It's like Planet of the Apes, where you come across this old run down place that has technology more advanced than you have currently, a run down city of the future.

Haha, wow. I'll try to tone down the smugness next time.

When I came across your post I thought it really came out of left field - I didn't say anything in this thread that could possibly be considered smug. Then I realized you were interpreting the thread title as smug.

There's nothing smug or elitist about the opinion that Europe's architecture/aesthetic is more visually appealing than that of the US. It's a simple matter of fact that Europe has a 2,000+ year head start in constructing elaborate edifices. If someone appreciates history and old/ancient architecture, Europe is the place to go.

By the way, "Eurotrash" refers to uncultured Europeans - not pretentious Americans who vacation in Europe.

Theres a difference between 'turn' and 'corner'.

Namely while 'cornering' you don't flip out and burst into flames
