I've seen methods of estimating body fat based on pinch measurements around the mid-section. However about 5 years ago I lost a lot of weight (~120lbs) and I have some lose skin around my mid-section (not a ton, but some). Will the standard pinch tests still work? Are there alternatives other than something like a BodPod?

There's a couple online testers, get a cloth flexible tape measure to use them. I can't say anything for the accuracy of them though, I've never verified anything. The figures seem reasonable, and are repeatable.

I use one of these I thnk they are more than accurate enough for home use.

Impedance bodyfat testers have a +/- 10% or greater accuracy. They can be better if you follow the directions and are having a 'good' day but they vary far too much for me to count on them for anything other than entertainment. Worst case find someone with experience with calipers, they're not 100% but as far as inexpensive testing goes they're worth the money.

I feel like mine is fairly accurate. There is no it is anywhere close +/- 10% off.

Lol, I went to a website that will give you an estimate and at my lowest weight it said I was -.6%. Inaccurate test is inaccurate : ) At my current weight 8%.
