To this day, I'm still in awe that the Fins basically gave the Pats Wes Welker for essentially nothing. Good riddance Randy Mueller and Cam Cameron.

Well, a 2nd and 7th isn't a bad trade
the Dolphins made out alot better than the Raiders. Randy Moss for a 4th round draft pick!!!

Well, it be fair, no one expected Moss to do what he did this season. The Raiders got the best deal they could get at the time.

doesnt matter, Cowboys are beating them in the super bowl! go pack! but on a serious note, i am quite impressed, their offense is just something else to watch.

Fixed

This of course assumes the Cowboys make it to the superbowl ... unllike the AFC where the Colts & Pats are head & shoulders above everyone else, Dallas is only a little bit better then the teams they have to beat.

I wouldn't be shocked if any of the teams in the NFC playoffs were to end up getting hot & going to the SB. (except maybe Seattle)

Jacksonville will beat NE, you heard it here first.

Its possible ... they're certainly a better all-around team then the Giants.

I wouldn't bet the rent on it though.

Jacksonville's secondary isn't the greatest but they get great pressure with their
down linemen without resorting to exotic blitzes so it will be a great matchup...

Dolphins were #1 in offense, and #1 in defense.

There's only two things impressive with the pats this year, their very good defense (mainly against passing), and Brady, who will be considered one of the 'greatest ever' when its all said and done. Everything else is irrelevant, including their @sshole coach.

72 Dolphins have SB rings. The comparison is not valid unless NE wins it this year.

they did not have video cameras either

Hello? there has NOT been any illegal taping since the 1st quarter of the 1st game!

I think their O-line is pretty impressive, particularly against the pass rush. I mean Brady is great, don't get me wrong, but if he didn't have those guys protecting him I'd like to see his numbers and the Pats' record then.

i wouldnt go that far...

I would.

There are quarterbacks playing today that are bigger than your average lineman in 1972. An average O/D lineman in today's game is about 50-60 pounds heavier than in 1972 and a lot faster and stronger. (Let's face it, steroids have changed the game)

There is no way to compare teams from different eras but you can compare them within the context of what they did against the competition they had at the time. That was kind of the point of this thread. Against 1972 competition the Dolphins only had to beat two winning teams. The Pats beat four eventual division champs and 6 eventual playoff teams. And as someone pointed out, if the Colts had actually come to play, they would have beat 7 playoff teams. There is definitely no "yeah, but who did they play?" question with the Pats.

The only way I would like to see the Pats lose is if it's to Favre and the Packers. And I'm not a fan of either team.

i agree wholeheartedly with this statement. I'd love to see Favre job Brady all day long on Super Sunday.

Not exactly being objective there huh? 😉

Aside from being vulnerable to a strong running attack its hard to find a serious weakness on the '07 Patriots ... wether you like them or not is a seperate issue.

Their line has been pretty good, 5th in the league resisting sacks. Some is also the genius of Brady being able to execute under all conditions.

100% objective! (just part drama queen 😛)

They don't have many weaknesses, but they do have the leagues best qb who helps make others look a lot better than they are, starting with the coaching staff.

Dolphins were #1 in offense that season, Patriots this year are #1 ALL TIME, ever.

With salary caps, free agency, etc.. it's much more impressive to have the balanced offense and defense that the Pats have and be near the top in both than to have the #1 rankings in both back then.

I always thought that the 72 Dolphins were a real good team but not a great team along the lines of the 70's Steelers, the 49ers of the 90's, the 85 Bears and the Cowboys of the Mid 90's.
