Um, they hit the plates because it is flat and will reflex back to the gun. I don't know what you are talking about size.

Someone said that they try to hit a big flat thing.

Being flat won't make the laser reflect back to the gun either. A flat surface is most likely to reflect the beam away from the tiny target that is the gun's receiver.

WOW, those jammers sure are worthless. Do you even read anything in the forums you belong to?

If other would like, they can read other stories here.

I don't want to hear stories...I want to hear a scientific explanation for how they work, if they do. Since I don't own or plan on buying any detectors/jammers in the near future, my curiosity is purely philosophical.

Exactly. The idea if coating specific surfaces of a car is simply rediculous based on the simple fact that no human can hold a laser steady enough to hit a target the size of a licence plate when it's 75 yards away and closing at 70-90mph any more than the radar detector will be able to reliably pick up its scatter. Laser countermeasures and defenses don't make sense.

Thankfully, I've never had to really worry about laser because its not used here in the great Commonwealth of Pensyltucky. Only state is even allowed to use radar.

Don't forget... there are a lot of reasons a cop won't give chase and very few of them probably have anything to do with whether or not they can "techically get" you
