My favorite part is that they not only believe him, they think the people pointing out all of his obvious lies are the REAL LIARS. It's been a fascinating (and troubling) lesson in the power of political partisanship and how people engage in motivated reasoning.
As for people thinking he will benefit them well that's the same lie conservatives have been telling themselves for decades now. It's not like the GOP has made a secret of things, their primary goal is to cut taxes for rich people. They may claim they are running on other policies but that's what they actually do when they win. Taxes for rich people have declined dramatically over the last 40 years and we all know that has not led to the promised mutual prosperity. I'm confident they will cut taxes on rich people again soon, using the same excuses, and it will be the same failure. If their voters haven't learned this by now and keep voting for them you have to imagine its willful ignorance and...again...motivated reasoning.
Let's hear it for tribalism!
The supply experiment failed see Kansas.
But that key data point is being actively ignored at the national level.
