It's been a long time since they shipped a GOOD Unreal game. 4 years isn't too long for a game in general (although these days it's a long time in the mind of most major publishers who want a new game every year or two), but it's been 7 years since they shopped a good Unreal game.

I thought Unreal 2 was great, when did that come out?

WOW!
Been waiting 7 years for Unreal 3 and its not even on the horizon. Kinda sad. Of course thats better than milking a franchise to death. Call of Duty is on their 9th game I think.

Also, UT3 was consolized garbage and even thought its failure was completely their fault, I bet thats what caused them to reconsider putting time and effort into the franchise.

I really liked Unreal, I also like their engines.

I want new IP, please, tired of the franchise.

Epic took their ball and went home a long time ago when UT3 failed on PC due to being terrible. And then blamed it on piracy, I believe.

Still rocking UT99. Didn't like the feel of the rest, although the vehicles in UT2004 were entertaining.

UT3 wasn't even made by Epic directly, they outsourced it to a studio called Midway.

I fucking hate epic and Cliff B ever since he made this statement.
Cliff Bleszinski said:
“The person who is savvy enough to want to have a good PC to upgrade their video card is a person who is savvy enough to know all the elements so they can pirate software. Therefore, high-end videogames are suffering very much on the PC. Right now, it makes sense for us to focus on Xbox 360 for a number of reasons. Not least PCs with multiple configurations and piracy.”

You hear that folks? If your a PC gaming enthusiast then your probably a pirate. Fucking turd.

I haven't like any Epic games since UT2k4. Maybe they'll make another consolized trash pile like UT3 and seal their death in the minds of PC gamers. That way they can just blame pirates again and be happy making games for the Xbox360 and PS3.

That's...insulting. He has a point there somewhere but it's buried in derision. Ok, sure. If I wanted to pirate stuff I could probably figure it out. But I don't want to pirate, and I've never even bothered looking into how I would do so. I buy all my games legally.

Cliff is basically suggesting that all PC gamers are not only capable of pirating but that they are likely to pirate. Which I'm not. I feel downright insulted, he's almost saying PC gamer=criminal!

I love Unreal, logged literally 1000's of hours into UT 99 but its been going downhill since UT 2004. UT 3 was a complete fucking JOKE of a game, i seriously felt like i had been robbed after playing it and realizing how bad it was.

I think it's the game style. Soon all the sandbox FP/shooters will realize how flat the game they are playing really is. Within months of games like Call of Duty 4, COD;WAW, BF: BC2 these games just felt ,,,,eeehhh, for me. UT3 (DM, GREED, wish CTF was still popular in UT) hasn't lost it's characteristic for being a skill oriented competitive game. To get into that would be a wall of text.

Maybe they'll make another consolized trash pile like UT3 and seal their death in the minds of PC gamers.

Playing the game doesn't feel like you are playing on a piece of crap console game. It's mostly the menu to get to your favorite servers. I don't buy a game or like a game based on the way the menu is.

That way they can just blame pirates again and be happy making games for the Xbox360 and PS3.

Where is there proof of this? I'd like to see it. Not mad bro :)

I agree the game has been neglected.

I (almost kind of) played the beta demo of UT3. That was enough to turn me off buying it, and I didn't even bother to pirate it because it left such a bad impression. If your games are bad, or your demos of your games are terrible, you can't blame pirates.

I like Unreal Tournament III, especially with the mods from the community, such as mutators, maps and new models (along with new music and sounds). It's fun, I don't like it as much as I used to like 2004, but I don't play 2004 anymore, so when I do play some UT I stick with 3 and call it a night, I mostly play off-line though, sometimes I do play on-line but it rarely lasts for more than half an hour.

PC consumers is a thing of the past for EPIC.

Fixed that for you which should have been a no brainer considering Cliff smacked you in the mouth and took his ball and went home to the Xbox. But lets be honest its not like PC gamers really gave him any choice. Had he stuck out with the pc the poor would be bankrupted having to work at the EA game mill.

Whas really interesting is that Cliff has expressed concerns about console game reselliing. Maybe with a little lobbying and his sales assured EPIC can afford to make a great game for your PC so you can steal it.

Whatever the launch version was so i would assume 1.0. I bought it(at full price, rare for me) installed it. Played it for 8-10 hours decided it sucked and stopped. Then a few weeks later i figured i would give it another shot and spend a whole weekend exploring all the differnt play modes and differnt servers and decided after another 20 hours of gameplay it still sucks and uninstalled it and that was it. It wasnt something a patch could fix it was just a shit game.
