Well I'm not defending the teacher because he misused this highly sensitive word at the wrong place and wrong time but I am defending my right to use it. If society(especially black people) find it so damn insulting then they should practice what they preach should they not? If they continue to use it, they are only telling us it's ok to use it too. Why do they get special treatment just because they're black? They fought for equal rights and be treated fairly... they got it and it's ironic that now we have to fight for the same thing.
I'm black. I don't use it. I shouldn't have to tolerate you using a derogatory and insensitive word. I don't want special treatment. I don't want to walk down the street and hear everyone saying n-this, n-that.
And you know what... There is a double-standard.
I really have no problem with black people using it because I KNOW that their not using it in a pejorative manner. If a white person says it, I have no idea what their intentions were (removing consideration such as voice inflection). Besides, black people have taken the word ****** and turned it into a term of endearment used by and towards other black people. When white people use the term they usually do it mockingly, ergo removing the endearment associated with it's usages.
