English Teacher Uses Racial Slur

My black friend and I had a discussion between N***a and N***er and we came to the conclusion that N***a is not a racial slur compared to N***er.

With that said, I think what the teacher said was highly inappropriate and he deserved the suspension.

Heh. It's a bullshit double standard that nothing can be done about. Blacks are allowed to use it liberally, without having to face any consequences, but God forbid someone else using it. It's a shame that one standard isn't applicable to everyone.

QFT

same in this country....no brit's (ie white british, native british) can call other races names, but for some reason its completely fine for the other races (of which there are many in our very multi-cultural land) to call us names

hell its even fine for them to get things like saying merry christmas changed to "happy holidays" becuase it insults them, and land of hope and glory is another thing that they find offensive

probably fox hunting is down on the list somewhere,

in making britain richly multicultural and diverse i believe they've rubbed out british culture and tradition all together and ive got one thing to say to non native brits who are offended by british traditions

if you dont like it.....then GET THE ****** OUT.

we give you our hospitality and you thank us by being offended at our traditions/sayings. great.

I don't have a hard time believing that. It's a shame that majorities have to "change" so to speak in order to accomodate minorities. I am a minority myself and I don't think that's right at all.

thanks, if i went to live in their countries id almost certainly do my hardest to respect their traditions, it pisses me off for them to come here, and start telling us how to live. id be grateful of any countries hospitallity, apparently people who seek asylum here arent.

So just call them names behind their backs...like most don't do that anyway. Anyway not using racial slurs in public actually makes one look more intelligent than those that do.

BTW I don't consider the term Redneck a racial slur because one doesn't have to be a certain race to be a Redneck.

Oh my god we white folks have it so hard!!!

I don't know how we put up with all this oppression where we can't call little black kids NIGGAS! What's the world coming to!?

Just plain silly...all this concentration on racism just prolongs the mood of racial inequality. In an overwhelming majority of the US, racism is dead...its deader than dead. But racial prejudice remains and only time will reduce racial prejudice.

Stuff like this will only act to prolong and strengthen feelings of racial prejudice... it is bad for our soceity.

Some of the people in this thread need to meet a black person or two. You guys do realize that not every black person liberally uses the n-word (also -ger, -ga, and -gah are the same damn thing) like you try so hard to believe. And which idiot said that it's racist because black people made it racist? Do you even know what the f*ckin word means idiot?

There are plenty of blacks out there who hate the word and never use it. I can't believe some people in this thread are trying to agree with this teacher. What if he was a black teacher and called a white kid a honkey? you'd prolly want him lynched. What about words like chinks, gooks, beautiful ray of sunshine, cracker, pollack, slant-eye, beloved patriot, etc... in this context do you think its ok for any teacher to drop any of these words on their kids? NO!

so much better to sweep it all under the carpet, pretend the inequalities and hostilities don't exist, huh?

I don't see chinese people call each other chinks, I don't see vietnamese people call each other gooks and so on... Until black people learn to respect themselves all it will do is create a double standard. If they use the N-ga in their music, in their movies and everything else so freely then I should not be criticized when I use it too. Because everyones personalities are influenced by the people around them and if these people are often exposed to this word they will learn to use it in their daily language whether it's deragatory or not. And here's the kicker, they learn to use it from black people.

You idiot look up the Etymology of the N world. It is derived from the latin word niger which is pronounced similar to the N word. Guess what niger in latin means, the color black. Yes the N word originally refers to the color black.

So if your next door neighbor calls his wife "Sweetie pie" does that mean it's OK for you to call his wife "Sweetie pie" too? Or would that be overly familiar, and therefore inappropriate?

No you don't see that because ganster asians just use niggah too.

But you are right that blacks in entertainment use it way too much... i'm not one to say get rid of all racial slurs. Matter of fact they're funny (see Chappelle, Mencia, Bad Boys of Comedy)... but it just gets on my nerves when non-blacks feel left out and feel like they can use the word too. You're not black! Don't get me wrong i drop the n-bomb too with my friends, but i would never in my right mind call a balck person that and except everything to be cool.

That's a little outdated don't you think? When people use it today we're using it as a term to desribe a person or people 99.99999%, not the crayola crayon.

When slave ships were brought over was it black folks callin other black folks ******? Nope... it was a deragorty term used by whites to describe them.

Hmm...

White man gives black man ******.
Black man takes it back last century.
Black man almost desensatizes it.
White man wants it back.

Actually when whites first brought over the slaves they used the n word to try and sound sofficiated, it was intended to descibe their skin color.

I do agree that the word has taken on a new meaning.

Right... i'm no expert on the word but we can all agree that around the birth of America that the word took on a hateful meaning.... to the point where there was no turning back to its original meaning.

Assuming I've never been around this word I'll eventually learn to call my own wife sweetie pie won't I? And yes I wouldn't call his wife that because I know it's inappropriate just like I know it would be inappropriate to use N-gga in a speech but I will use it casually to my friends.

****** please. This reminds me of the only white guy on the Washington DC city council several years ago who was recalled after using the legitimate term niggardly.

If he had been black there probably wouldnt have been so much of an uproar.

Why does this remind you of that? 😕

One guy used a legitimate English word that has no racial connotation whatsoever, and the other called his student a n1gga.
Yeah, just like his friends probably do 2 dozen times a day.

God, sh!t like this is so stupid. Who's the one that's actually being racist? If it would have been a black teacher that said it, it wouldn't be a big deal.

It's his teacher not his friend. If the teacher called him a "dirty c0ck licker" as a joke... somehting you might say around your friends, would that be okay too?
