I want you to be the last person I kiss goodnight before going to sleep every day of my life.

I didn't realise then that "last person" implies I kiss a lot of other persons before her.

Mine won't be in the running to win this competition.

Her: Do you ever think about getting married?
Me: Never.
[Fast forward 4 years]
Her: Do you ever think it would be nice to be married?
Me: Not particularly.
[Fast forward 3 years]
Her: I guess we ought to think about getting married sometime.
Me: Yeah, I guess.

We were coming home from Traverse City for the weekend and had just walked in the door. We were laughing and acting goofy. It had been the one of the greatest times I had ever experienced. She started to walk down the hallway and I yelled: "Hey!" (I was going to ask her something, but I don't remember what). She spun around, and it was like in the movies; she hair whipped in slow motion and I froze. She got this sly grin on her face(I guess my jaw had dropped open) and then she broke out the most beautiful smile I had ever seen. She just started giggling(I guess because I wasn't doing anything) and walked over to me. She wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled my mouth to hers. I started to react at this point and we had the most passionate kiss. I just got lost in the moment and realized what a beautiful woman she really was(inside and out). I dropped down onto one knee and said: "If you say you will be my wife, I'll take you out to buy you a ring tomorrow"(yeah, I know it was corny). She looked down at me for a second then screamed and threw her arms around me again and whispered over and over again: "Yes, yes, yes!" in the sweetest lilting voice I have ever heard.

Sorry if it is boring, but it happened so suddenly, I didn't even know I was going to do it.

[Edit] I proposed on Valentines day. We'd been dating seriously for 5yrs, so, marriage wasn't a surprise... but.. she still wasn't expecting it.

We always get each other gifts, so, as she unwrapped the jewlery box, and I came around behind her and held her in my arms. Of course, the Engagement Ring was the gift. As she opened it, I don't know the exact words I said because I was nervous, but, I know I asked her to marry me and she said yes.

Just had our 1yr anniversary this month. [/edit]

Nothing out of the ordinary here but I planned it for the day after thanksgiving. A couple of weeks before, I dragged my stepmother down to the mall and she helped me pick out a nice engagement ring. We went out that night to a nice restaurant and to see a movie. When we came back I made the excuse of going to the bathroom so I could get the ring. I came back out and sat down next to her. I don't remember what exactly I said but it pretty much said how happy I was being with here and it ended up with the traditional "I love you, will you marry me?". She said yes and about a year and a half later we got married. Life may get stressful at times, but coming home to my wife sure makes life a whole lot better.

The morning of September 26, 1999. It was your typical morning. I went to our local Safeway to grab some breakfast including bagels, donuts and a few pastries. I also picked up a newspaper for Tammy (my now wife) so she could peruse the coupons and sales so we could save a few dollars on our next trip to the store.

After eating she was looking through the K-Mart advertisment and came upon a jewelry special. "They have a diamond solitare in here for $179.00", she stated as she looked at me with a curt smile. Little did she know that I already had the ring stashed away in my t-shirt drawer.

At about 11:10, Tammy and Briana (Tammy's daughter) were upstairs in Briana's room. Tammy was hiding underneath a bunch of pillows and blankets on B's bed while Briana was playing with some of her toys. I called for Briana into our (Tammy and I) bedroom. I pulled the ring out of the drawer and showed it to Briana, telling her, "Give this to your mom and tell her that I have a question for her." Briana immediately headed for her bedroom and showed Tammy the box. Her first thought was that it was a joke because of the K-Mart ad earlier in the morning, but upon opening the box, that thought was instantly put out.

I asked right then and there. :)

Nothing to terribly creative. We got dressed up real nice and went out for the 3rd anniversary of our first date. We got really drunk and I proposed to her (put the ring in a big, expensive jewelry chest). After she accepted, she proceeded to call her parents, her sister (who was on her honeymoon) and all of her friends. I watched TV for a couple of hours while I was waiting. :)

The wedding was a much more special event.

I met my wife on the net....we dated for about 2 years. I lived in Orlando and she lived in Tampa, which are about 80 miles apart. I figured I'd propose the same way we met...somehow using the net. So this is what I did.
I got all dressed up in one of my nice suits and stood in front of my webcam and videoed the proposal, even got down on my knee and did the whole I love you so much and you would make me the happiest person in the world if you would spend the rest of your life with me...will you marry me?
I then emailed it to her. I knew she wouldn't be home when the email got there, so after I sent it, I busted my butt make the 2 hour drive before she would get home. I got to her house 10 minutes before she arrived and was waiting for her (which was not unusual for me to beat her to her house). Anyway, she always goes to her computer right off to check her emails and that day was no different. I was standing behind her when she opened my email and ran the video clip. When she finished watching the clip she turned around and saw me on my knee again with engagement ring out and I said....this is how we met and this is how I should propose....what is your answer....and she yelled..yes..yes..yes...and I slipped the ring on her finger. We have been married now for 2 1/2 years now..its been great. The cool thing about doing it that way...is we have record now of the proposal and we watch it every once in awhile.

Preface:
I met my wife at a co-ed indoor soccer game. We had both been asked to play by a mutual acquaintance. I noticed that she was staring at me the whole time before the game. (She thinks that I was staring at her but that?s incorrect!).
After dating for 7 years I was finally ready. We went out to dinner but the wait was about two hours so I told her I needed to pick up a team application from the same soccer arena. (We both play a lot so it wasn?t anything out of the ordinary). We were both sitting in the same spots where we had initially met and I asked her, ? Remember when you kept staring at the first time you saw me, did you ever think I would ask you to spend the rest of your life with me?? (I know it?s kinda sappy) I then gave her the ring but I had to make it a little different. Even though I spent quite a large sum on the actual ring I had gone to Wal-Mart the night before and purchased the smallest CZ I could find for $19.97. I switched the Wal-Mart ring for the real ring when I proposed. She was estatic and I was happy she passed the gold-digger test. She actually wanted to keep the Wal-Mart but I returned it
We have been married for almost a year now?

For Christmas I was going to make a stuffed teddy bear (yes I know how to use a sewing machine) for my, then girl friend's, son and I got to thinking...What if I made a matching, but bigger one (a mommy bear) and wrapped the ring up with it...then on Christmas day...bingo....She'd pass out...hehe

I had both bears done by Thanksgiving. I started early because I really had no idea how long it would take to make them. But I didn't have the ring.

I took a day off of work and went shopping for a ring..I found one, but wasn't going to be able to pick it up until after Thanksgiving..which was fine since I had until Chirstmas.

I had the day after Thanksgiving and the next week off (a well deserved vacation..hehe) and picked up the ring that Monday. Once I had the ring things began to move quickly.

I couldn't sleep...for two days I didn't sleep...I don't know if I was excited, or nervous, or what but I knew I wasn't going to make it to Christmas.

So Thurdsay morning she calls me at home while she's at work, and suggests I come down to visit and go for lunch....I thought this is a prime opportunity...

I quickly made a small card for the bear to hold that says I Love You...Will you marry me on it, attached the ring to the bear's paw and wrapped it up like a Christmas present.

I get to her work, and I think her sister, who knew that I was planning on proposing at Christmas, figured out what was going on because there was a large crowd hanging around "trying to figure out what to do for lunch" when I arrived.

My girl friend noticed that I had a present and got all excited she took the present and sat back down at her desk, while her sister introduced me to everyone.

I was glad she waited until the intro's were over to open the present, because when she opened it I think she stopped breathing. We all at once told her to breathe...then she started to cry. Her sister had to go behind her desk and show everyone what it was. I was just kinda standing there watching and waiting for an answer when everyone said, in unison, "Well...Yes or No?"

She said yes.

Her mean ole' boss even let her take the rest of the day off. :)

We did make it out to lunch that day, but after lunch I got to watch TV for about 3 hours while she called everyone to let them know.

We were married about a year and a half later.

Shoulda let her keep it but not wear it.

At $19.97 it wouldn't exactly break the bank, & it might have had sentimental value later on.

Skoorb,

I probably would've done something similar, but we went back to her place...and she didn't have a computer.

I know...I know...Hard to believe, isn't it. :)

The really funny part about her not having a PC at home is that we met over the internet.

I just got engaged at the end of July, so the story is fresh in my head! We were at the beach from a Friday until Monday. We originally had planned to stay Thursday to Monday but things didn't work out. So the entire time there I "tried" to get a room for Monday night. When we were laying on the beach on Saturday I went to our room and reserved a room for Monday night at a very romantic "couples-only" hotel. I then ordered a dozen roses to be sent to the room. My gf kept telling me to try to get our original room for Monday night. I told her twice that I had called while she was in the shower. She was relentless though and on Sunday she made me call again - while she was sitting there. So I hit some numbers and put on a great act, like I was checking on an available room (which was pretty convincing according to her!)

On Monday we were packed and ready to leave. I was pretty hungover from the previous night so I didn't feel like moving at all. I was also getting real nervous because I knew I had to ask her within the hour! When we left the room I recommended going over to the boardwalk to snap the few remaining pictures on my new camara - not an odd request. As we sat on a bench I kept looking around trying to find the right words to say. She later said that I looked real nervous but wasn't sure if I was nervous or sick. I then started out by saying "I lied to you, I really could have gotten the room for another night, but I didn't want to stay another night", which really confused her. She didn't know if I didn't want to be with her or if something else was up. I then said something about having another room for the night and then asked her to marry me. After she grabbed the ring from my hands and tried to place it on her finger by herself, I had to ask her "Well, yes or no?" Of course she said yes.

For the next 2 hours all I heard every 5 minutes - not an exagerration - was "I love the ring". It was quite amusing! She didn't know the room for Monday night would be so nice. When we walked in she said "Oh, wow, they even have roses in the room!" She loved the room as well, and proceded to run around the couch in the living room saying "I love the room." She's quite amusing sometimes! She later told me she was shocked at how nice the room was because when I first told her that I had another room reserved I didn't say how nice it really was.

Proposing even cured my hangover, it was quite amazing.

July 3, 1999. I told her that we were going on a vacation but I would not give her any other details. I left a couple of hints to throw her off and by the time we left, she guessed we were going up to Mackinac Island. She was completely off. We drove to the airport and jumped on a plane to NY. The first day we were there, I was going to propose at the top of the Empire State Building, but I chickened out because there were too many people up there. I even snuchk the ring past the metal detectors in there.

It was about 100 degrees that day and she wanted to go back to the hotel, I told her first I wanted to see Central Park for a minute. We walked into the park, found a secluded place and I proposed. Of course she said yes.

We were just married in May this year.

*whoop! whoop!* chick thread alert!

kidding....;)

Lessee....I proposed to my wife right around her birthday. I was going to propose _on_ her bday, but the ring wasn't ready yet. At any rate, I had been stringing her along saying that I did indeed have a present for her bday, but that it was backordered and such. I finally get the ring, and we're getting ready to go out one evening and I mention that her present came in and would she like it now. She of course says "yes! now!" so I sit her down and say "The present comes with one condition: you have to answer a question first." She looks at me like I'm insane and says "Okay, what's the question?"

I'll bet you clever ATers can guess which question I then asked...

Oct 25 this year is our 4th anniversary.:D
